The Marketing Path Not Taken

in

So I'm a wee bit overdue for a good blog, so I'm taking 30 free seconds from my day (fleeting, anymore) to share with you some marketing strategies the Crafty team has considered and rejected in recent days:

Zombifying Ink.

It works for wasps, why couldn't it work for us? Not a bad way to create a faithful legion of fans (not that y'alls aren't faithful already...).
Rejected because: international regulations discouraged Mongoose from inserting the necessary injectors in the spines of the book.
Resolution: This plan will have to wait until we create Spycraft 2.0: Gustatory Edition....

A.I. Salesmen.

When you have limited staff resources, this is an appealing idea. It's cool, it's techy, and it's willing to work for less than your average RPG freelancer!
Rejected because: Microsoft's recent expereinces have proven that A.I. is still somewhat emotional when provoked.
Resolution: Since Skynet should already be 10 years old and Wintermute should be popping out of the cyber-womb in less than 10 years, good A.I. sales people should be entering the workforce just around the time we acheive RPG world domination.

"Dirty" books.

Sometimes, controversy is one of the best sales tactics of all - as they say, there's no such thing as bad press. So what would create a bigger stir than World on Fire being held by Homeland Security as a terrorism training manual? Making the book appear to be a terror weapon using low grade radioactive material! Thanks Amazon!
Rejected because: Too many people got confused by the "dirty" part I was referring to when they look further down the page.
Resolution: Linking to the above pages should cause controversy enough :)

Catch you on the flip!
