A respected Archer Lord and leader of Division Nihil, Dr. Lothario Algernon was instrumental in assembling the Ultimates - among other things, he was the one who brought Mark Simmons into the conspiracy. With Mark's help, he managed to defeat a clone of Dennis Gray in New York City. The enforcer also helped him with a personal matter: Venturing into the fringe with a select team of Fringewalkers, Algernon and his men held off the raging spirits while Mark snuck off to destroy the fringe projector that had originall trapped the Architects of the Fringe. With them gone, Algernon absorbed part of their powers, making him the most powerful Fringe user in the world.

Ever since, Algernon has exhibited powers that his fellow Fringewalkers can't match. Greatest among them is his ability to casually manifest the Fringe around him. Also, he has great insight into fast travel through the Fringe, allowing him to cover vast distances quickly or even teleport short distances. Together with his technical expertise and considerable combat training, this makes Algernon a very capable operative, able to get almost anywhere and keep his own in any fight. Among the group of ex-Archer agents who staff Fagin's Umbrella's New York City post, he's the heaviest gadget user, relying on a virtual arsenal of Conspiracy gear that he keeps hidden beneath his noir coat.

In personal matters, Algernon has a romantic relationship with Dr. Kyle Thrace, Mark's personal physician. Algernon's quiet demeanor and Fringe connection mean that he's quite literally easy to overlook, but his track record speaks for itself.
