It should be easy enough to whip up this feat, but in any case: has it been statted up in a book yet?

No need to create a new feat, just re-read the Desert Training terrain feat, it includes plains.

Actually, there is. I was hoping for some more plains (wide open spaces) type benefits that pertain outside of the desert.

In any event, the title was a bit of a misnomer, if that's the case.

There was a discussion about this (I don't think it got migrated to these boards) when 2.0 came out. Morgenstern explained his reasoning for putting open wilderness terrain AKA Plains/Savannah/Grasslands under the Desert Training feat, some of which had to do with diminishing returns and overspecialization. In any case, only the heat resistance bonus seems specific to Deserts. The Survival check bonus, standard surprise advantage and water conservation are generally useful. If anything, I think the feat could stand to add another advantage regarding the ability to influence the 'base encounter distance' (pg. 323, table 5.1) which would be useful considering the ranges involved with Plains/Desert encounters.

I suppose they could have named it Open Wilderness Training, but they went with Desert Training
