Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.  Please move it if it is.  Wink

Are there any plans for a Spycraft 2.0 Character Generator?  Is there one out already that my Google-Fu failed to locate?

I would very much like to track my PC/NPC characters progression using software similar to D&D's E-Tools but I can't find anything.  I know that Code Monkey Publishing is working on the RPG Foundry, but since the majority of my needs rest with Spycraft 2.0, I would really like to see something dedicated to the game without having to use a dinosaur program filled useless fantasy content.

I tried the PC Gen program but used very little of it and decided that it simply took up too much space on my hard drive to validate keeping.  Likewise, I've also tried the *very cool* interactive character sheet and I like it very much, but having to re-enter all of the information at every level up gets old pretty quick.

Thanks in advance for your help. Smiley

Though one hasn't hit just yet, there's a good deal of work going on behind the scenes to make it happen. As soon as we have something we can unveil, we'll jump at the chance. Smiley

is there any legal position stopping a fan authored version of tihs?

Stats only, can't quote text? Don't even try it?

Just curious as to what might be considered "fair use" for such a piece of fan-authored software.

Well, from a legal perspective, see the OGL in the back of the book. From the perspective of keeping the three from sic'ing Rapebear on you, ask them.

All they need to do is contact Lone-Wolf development and let them do up a system on there Hero Designer software, already have 4e, 3.5e, PF, WoD, M&M, SW & Cortex systems on it.  Works great too. Cheesy

I think a character generator program would help consolidate character options from the main Spycraft book and the World on Fire book. If anything, it would help make 1st level character generation go faster.

For what it's worth, for my Professional Software Engineering class this semester I'm considering making a set of GM / PC tools for gaming, which may include a character generator.  It's entirely for assessment purposes (only my course coordinator and I will see it), but if the interest is there I'll submit a copy to Pat and Alex, and if they think it's ok I'll let other folks have a copy (I don't want to step on toes wrt existing projects / too much info in my project).

Of course I have to submit the proposal to the coordinator first, who may determine that my idea isn't complex enough to get me the grade I want, so nothing may come of it - just thought I'd mention it since it comes up reguarly and I too want my own set of GM tools that I can easily run off an old laptop / tablet.

Pat / Alex - feel free to say no to public release now if you have something in the works / object to the idea and I won't mention it on the boards again.
