As I suspected I will not be using the setting as written, but there is more than enough pillage worthy material to keep me happy. Smiley Much to most of the material will be folded into my Delta Green game. Delta Green is being treated as an Allegiance rather than a faction, I think - since it no longer exists in any official capacity. Thoughts on this?

It was very nice to see the close combat weapons getting some real attention - one of the players in my Delta Green game will be very happy to se them - his commando is all about the silent kill, adding lethality to knives (already much nastier than in standard D20) will seem like Christmas to him....

I should however mention an odd problem - when I am printing the file in Acrobat 8 the program crashes when ever it reaches the pages in the mid-eighties. Even trying to print those pages separately brings it down. This only happens with Acrobat 8, which makes me glad that I still have Acrobat 7 installed. (Yes, you can have both, thank the gods. Smiley )

The printer involved is a Brother HL 2040 laser printer that I got for $50 near Christmas. After I get a new cartridge for my older HP laser printer I will try it again on that, but I think the problem lies in Acrobat Reader 8. I have had other issues with it, involving older DRM protected documents. It also pages much, much faster under 7. Number 8 does not much like WoF at all.  Undecided It may have to do with 8 being optimized for Vista, which I am avoiding like the plague Bubonic. I will take a look to see how it runs on the laptop tomorrow, which came with Vista (I need to get another copy of XP for my laptop.)

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* An observation: The setting is very much in the atmosphere of Bond - slightly over the top, with a conspiracy behind much of the terrorist activity in the world. A SPECTRE rising, if you will.

I had similar issues with Acrobat Reader 8 on my office machine going to my laser printer with the GC Handout pdf. I think it's an issue with 8 though, as my copy of 6 Pro worked.

Yeah, as I said, that is my suspicion as well. I am very glad I kept 7 up and running.  Undecided

Pillaging-wise I think the melee combat feats will probably see use in a lot of my games (some players have something against guns - they'll use them, but only get excited about getting up close with an axe/sword/knife/hammer/whatever) - though part of me still thinks that WoF still isn't the best place for them.
Otherwise, I like the idea of the ancients, though I'll probably make them more mysterious in any game I run, so we get more of the - are they actually supernatural or do they just foster the myth...
I may actually run WoF as is, to get a feel for the various elements anyway...

Sorry to hear about your Acrobat 8 woes. I haven't upgraded yet and the files are all working fine for me on 7, so it's hard to tell what the problem is. Like you, I'm avoiding Vista at all costs, as I don't need all the extra doo-dads and XP is so rock solid that I'd need a true incentive to switch.

Keep us posted on the file oddities, though. It helps us narrow down when and if there's a problem somewhere.

It's a Nine Tiger thing.

Completely agree. That's the way I'd run them, and the way I intended to present them in the CCG storyline. It's harder to do that in an RPG, though, where the reader demands full, non-evasive disclosure - especially when you've only got as much space as we had in Chapter 2.

Sweetness. Let us know how it goes!

I'll be honest, if I wasn't quite as happy with Delta Green/Fragile Minds as I am I might have been tempted to run WoF.

Either that or a 1960s campaign.... Drake, Bond, Phelps, Smiley, Robinson, Scott, Solo, Kuryakin, Smart, 99, Steed, Peel, Flint, Tintin, Quest, No. 6.... Seems like my favorites in regards to the espionage genre formed early....

Now that I finally back from London I'm going to run WoF for a while. I'm surprised by how much I like the setting. At the moment there are enough holes in the setting that I can slot what I want or need into it.

The FLAGS will probably start filling up bits of the info, but for now I'll run a few one shots in a sort of loose campaign. It'll be a nice break from my other games for a few weeks. Depending on how it goes it might steal one of my game slots for a proper campaign once my uni assignments are finished.

That was the plan. Glad to see it working in the wild. Smiley

The Flags won't be exhaustive, so hopefully some happy holes will remain.

I like holes. Grin

I got it on the 23rd in London and have been reading it since, but some of the story still confuses me  Huh?  I'm on my 3rd read through and I'm still struggling to get to grips with it.

Fair Dues to you for balancing such a complicated story. There are enough one line refences to muddy the waters. Presenting bits of the info from specific character's points of view is somewhat evil. I can't figure out if Banshee Nets meddling with the info to implicate the president is truth or lie, since its all Century's point of view, but I can quite happily run a story with it going either way.

Some of it's true - Winter is a foul man - but the Banshees are an even more spiteful bunch after Sparks' departure, and they... augmented the implicating evidence.

Sparks's departure?  Was that a typo, or did I miss something major?  Goodchilde died and LeVan started The Phage, but did Nathan leave the Banshee?

And if so, is there going to be a complete turnover in leadership?  Poole's "gone", Sparks ?left?, it's probably about time for The Orphan to step into a new role...
