Yep, for all those who have been asking the revised SC2 is now up and available.

I just downloaded mine and discovered that it is less than half the size (file size, not page size) than my older copy. This means that Acrobat Reader is having a much easier time reading the new version. I am guessing that the previous version was not properly optimized?

It now also has my name on the bottom of every page, so I can't go hog wild giving copies away to friends and family. (Not that I ever have, I'm a selfish bastiche, I am!)

Any who, no I have it, and am trying to find the changes, just so I don't trip over them later.

Is it me, or does the new version seem to be at a slightly lower resolution?  Some of the graphics look a little "grainier" when compared to the FP.

Hmmm, doing a side by side comparison I can't really see any difference. If there is one it is very slight. (At least on the images I have checked... which seem to involve ladies in close fitting costumes for some reason....)

It might be just me - it is more in the background images than the main illustrations.  It could also be the new color selections playing with my eyes... Undecided

It may be...I'm not sure what the guys did, but a slightly lower res wouldn't be surprising, considering the drop of over 1/2 the original file size...

Makes sense, but part of me would rather have had the higher resolution, just "because" Roll Eyes

My copy I got off DriveThru was smaller by not by half, my orginal is 114mb, the SP is 75mb, still a good thing,   I still plan on grabbing the dead tree version when it hits the shelves here.

My copy (bought the first day of release, I believe *EDIT* nope I saved it on 7-16-06) tips the scales at a whopping 160,097 KB.  the new version is is a mere 74,587 - less than half. I suspect that the file has undergone several revisions since the day of my purchase.

It has indeed. Crafty Games has been a work in progress on many levels, including layout and PDF production. I would be hard-pressed to list out all the various things we've done to that particular document, as they were legion. There was some resolution tweaking, optimization, image omission (backgrounds, to increase legibility), and so, so many other changes. Ultimately, we're pretty pleased with the final result, though. And many many thanks Pat, Alex, Scott, and Steve.  The smaller size is much nicer to my pocket hard drive, it loads and navigates much quicker and smoother, but most of all... I can actually print this thing out without the job crashing the print queue. Cheesy

Whenever I try and access Drivethru it's 'temporarily down' I didn't realise it had so much downtime.

They seem to have had more lately. Not sure why. Hopefully things'll calm down soon.

Well I got it eventually (had to sort out a mess with my account - I didn't realise I'd had 3 different accounts with DriveThru over the years).
