not sure how to word this mechanically but here goes
insurance
You have purchased insurance of some kind on a piece of equipment you are carrying. if this gets damaged stolen or destroyed you do not suffer the reputation/net worth penalty.
the of this pick is equal to the caliber of the item you wish insurance for.
Nice. How about this for a smoother wording:
Insurance: This resource provides a level of protection in the event your character leaves a piece of equipment behind. Specify one piece of equipment that would normally cause exposure if left in the field with either a gear pick or Reputation/Net Worth equal or less then to the cost of this resource. If this item is lost it does not generate exposure. Alternatively, if the item is liquidated the character may make a Bluff/Deception check with a DC of (Item's Reputation cost + Threat Level + 15). If he succeeds he suffers only half the usual Reputation/Net Worth penalty and only one quarter with a threat. If he fails he suffers the normal penalty and one and a half times the penalty on an error. On a critical success he suffers no penalty at all and on a critical failure he suffers the penalty times the item's Reputation coast and may not select Insurance again until the he regains the lost Reputation/Net Worth.
The second part seems logical, although it
does contradict the no escaping liquidation penalties comment.
