We've avoided flame trolls, only to be set upon by a thread derailing rape bear...

I'm not sure this qualifies as a positive step. ^_^

My abject apologies. I blame it on poor impulse control. :|

Quote
Back on topic: How does the Ker-Frisbee doctrine apply to animal control issues? Could the rape bear be tried in the US if he was kidnapped in Tahiti by Dog the Bounty Hunter? Could he be tried for rape anywhere as a non-human, whether or not Dog the Bounty Hunter was involved (or was raped, for that matter)?

*double takes*

What the...? That wasn't on topic at all.

*accepts thread derail and begins summoning a poo flinging monkey to soil Krensky*

Actually, until you relented, I was prepared to congratulate you on a well-played thread merge! Smiley

It's the Sacred Chao of Discorianism.  Representing the balance between order (represented as the pentagon, read as much or little into that as you want) and chaos (as represented by Eris' Golden Apple).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discorianism#The_Sacred_Chao

I'm actually surprised you asked that Pat, but then again I've spent a lot of time around Steve Jackson Games folks and it's probably colored my perceptions a wee bit. As a side note though, the Discordians can make great, um, weird, um, antagonists for a light hearted game. Villians is to strong a word.

I'm sorry to everyone for opening the gates and giving Pat the setup and opening to drop Rapebear on us and ruining a perfectly good discussion regarding US foreign and domestic policy as it relates to the Global War  on Terror. (God I hate that term... why don't we just have a global War on Carpet Bombing or a Global War on Depression, or even a Global War on Poor Use of the English Language while we're at it.  Angry)

However, I do not thing the Ker-Frisbee doctrine applies to Rapebear. Being an animal, the court systems does not have criminal jurisdiction over him per say, although it could certainly order his destruction. I believe the general principle of "It's coming right for us." would apply here, allowing an animal control officer, policeman, ranger, or private citizen to shoot him in "self defense".

As a final note, I'm no more Discordian then the next man.

If the 'next man' were my room mate, I'd assure you you are noticeable less of one. But since I am the next man, it appears you may infact be moreso Tongue.

*quietly afraid to go back a page and see how a rape bear became involved*

I'm only passingly familiar with them. Never played any of the relevant SJ games - at least, not that I can recall - and haven't ever had the urge to work them into anything I've done. Certainly haven't had enough exposure to know the imagery. Smiley

The trouble with a global war on carpet bombing is that you couldn't very well carpet bomb your opponent into submission. Air war would seem to be mostly out, in fact, just to be safe. That's probably on the UN's docket, though...they're not doing so well with their own Global War on Land Mines, and carpet bombing seems like a safer opponent to tackle, really.

And a Global War on Poor Use of the English Language would logically begin with a stun feature attached to any device capable of texting or IMing...along with perhaps a sweep and kill team set on anyone who uses any combination of "LOL", "ZOMG" or "PWND" in three consecutive messages on WoW global chat.

I'll volunteer for one of those teams.  Wink

Folks, sorry to break in here but we may be in trouble...  =)

I was working through this thread on a smart phone during a corporate meeting. (Mistake #1)

I made it down to the end of the political discussion and was pleased to see my faith in the maturity of Spycraft reaffirmed fans when the Rapebear stopped in.

I followed THAT link. (Mistake #2)

I managed to make it through the meeting's discussion on staff and the blog post with a straight face but upon nearing the end of the original thread here, I lost it.

My laughter was so great that I've just directed a regional group of executives from one of the world's largest media conglomerates to the story of Rapebear!

If this shows up in script form, you have my sympathies. =) Who knows what they may do to dodge the writer's strike?

No, seriously. I feel like an ass.

Good Show, folks. You've just gained a worldwide auidance!

Now off to HR to see about correct meeting conduct....

LOL!

I think that story deserves a w00t!

Edit: I can't wait for the A&E Biography episode for Rapebear.

Awesome. I love watching viral ideas at work.

I wonder if the blogwriter's noticed a spike in traffic yet...  Tongue

HR was "concerned" when I mentioned the reason for my behavior being something called Rapebear... =)
