It could possibly be the Keeper - if the full title was Keeper of Tales, or something similar. Perhaps aspects of the Courtier would fill that role as well.

I'm hoping the Captain is more along the lines of the Warhammer profession. A leader of men. Might even have a class ability where he gets so many Tier II yeomen/sergeants like the bodyguards for the Politico.

Captain is indeed one of the three totally new ones (though he is taking over some of the Tactics-based vehicle command that might normally go to a modern day Wheelman). Given the above critera, I think you'll like them. A lot.

Lancer serves as the Alt-Wheelman, but he's had some radical changes (I used to think of him as a seperate class, but capturing the wheelman's role and some of his class abilites tightened him up considerably). Lancer is also my number-one pick for building a historically appropriate samurai character Cheesy.

Keeper, Keeper, Keeper... There are so many things you could do with it. Keeper of Secrets. Keeper of Songs. Keeper of Wisdom. Keeper of the Chronicles. Keeper of Lore...

Though if I were looking to really hammer the master of skills and lore Bard-cool home, I'd consider Adaptable Bard, with levels in Courtier, Keeper, Mage, Priest, or Sage.

Combat bards are damn sweet too: Grizzled Bard with Captain, Scout or Soldier levels. Think Gurnie Halleck - poet warrior and inspiration to all who fight at his side. Bard is a strong enough Specialty to effectively re-write any class you take along with it to meet the need.

With their basic indestructability, the Bard layers a sense of panache over the Explorer or Martial Artist to make them extraordinarily clever and whitty masters of their professions, able to rally their allies with a quick pratfall or a rousing demonstration of determination.

Bards with Assassin, Burglar, or Spymaster is intriguing, because it makes you superbly positioned to brag about your skuldugery or to play a truely loveable rogue. Pair it with the Mysterious talent and you are off and running.

Hmm or be able to spin propoganda to modivate the very slaying you just brought about. Makes me think of Dark Sun bards that were more noble assassins used to infiltrate and smear not only the body but the name of the target.

Hi, uhm, this might be another place in the forums, but how are you going to handle races in Fantasy Craft? Smiley

I imagine they'll stick to the way it's done in Origin of the Species series...

Races are handled as Talents. They usually have a special type and size listed (along with the penalties to blend in with humans and be treated by human medicine). Races also tend to have Limited Specialties (you only get the bonus feat if you choose one of the listed Specialties) and Favored Classes (If you have more levels in a base class other than the ones listed, you must discard two AD at the beginning of every session). In return, they also offer strong mechanical advantages, but you lose a lot of the flexibility Humans offer.

Racial Talents also allow access to Species Feats and Master Classes (the Racial Paragon classes, currently). Finally, there are no seperate "hybrid" talents - Half-Elfs and such are handled with taking a  Feat. Oh, also, most races have subraces that also cost a Species Feat, which give you more bonuses. For example, we've seen a feat that transforms your bog-standard Elf into a Winged Elf.

The name "Lancer" gives me a medieval tournament jouster or mounted combat feeling... I could see them having these feats...

"... and a crossbow in the other!"
