...and a lovely counterpoint in the form of an interview with director Sam Mendes
, whom I think did a wonderful job.
Skyfall. There's the usual assortment of minor quibbles, but in the end I welcome all the changes, all the choices, and even the mistakes and missteps.
Skyfall's in my Top Five Bond movies. So is Casino Royale, along with On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldfinger, and either You Only Live Twice or Goldeneye, depending on my mood.
On a related note, has anyone played 007: Legends yet? I have it but haven't had the chance to crack it, and a friend was telling me that his sense is that it was put together the way it was to give the sense that a lot happened to the new Bond in the period between Quantum and Skyfall - potentially even some or all of the movies from before the reboot. It's an interesting idea, and if true it offers a lot of insight into what they're striving for with this new era of the franchise.
