Hi there,

I recently buy the pdf version of Mistborn V2. I really like it.

I have follow the forum since several month and I did not find any update on the release date of the first official scenario (played during some events if I am correct).

Is there any date planned ?

I'd like to hear more about this, as well.

Also, any information about Sourcebook-type materials would be greatly appreciated.

They tend to be pretty closed mouthed until they have definitive news. Last I heard they still had someone working on Mistborn materials, so it is coming, but they wont dare mention a release date until everything's finalized.

I've been hoping that Alex would be able to post a brief update, as he's a lot more plugged in with the Mistborn line than I am at the moment, but he's busy with house guests this week.

Very brief update:

- We have a new line developer and a fresh talent team spinning up with the line now. This isn't particularly new - we sadly lost our first line developer, Will Hindmarch, a while back when he accepted a great offer to head up the Dragon Age RPG for Green Ronin - but it's also not something we've made a lot of noise about, and it's important for you to know that a) we have a team we're confident about, and b) they're deep in the process of bringing cool new stuff to your tables. Smiley

- Thieves and a whole series of digital and print products are in the works, including a full book on the Alloy era. The books will take some time, of course, and while we originally expected the first wave of digital products to be out by now, the first drafts didn't quite hit the desired marks, so we've sent them back for rewrites. (This isn't the fault of the developers or writers, by the way, but rather the natural growing pains of working with an all-new IP and not having the excessive resources required to soak natural bumps in the creative process.

Until Alex and/or Logan frees up, that's about all we can say about supplements at the moment - except to also mention that if all goes according to plan we'll be able to reveal (a few) more details soon-ish. We're working on a new and more efficient channel to get intel out to you guys, and the first installment there should include some tasty details about upcoming Mistborn products.

While we've been quiet, we have indeed been working on a bunch of new material for Mistborn. Aside from the Alloy of Law book Pat's already mentioned, we have Thieves in the Ninth House in the can and waiting to be reviewed, a new supplement very nearly done, a new adventure to go with it mostly written, and a new outline for the next "wave" of support material sitting here on my desk. The reason I'm not quite ready to speak to specifics yet is they need to be approved by Brandon's camp prior to us finalizing the work, and that often takes about a month. Once we have approval, however, we'll be ready to give y'all a peek behind the curtain Smiley

Glad to hear it, I'm excited for whatever material you may produce. Rules supplements especially, since I doubt I'll be able to use your adventures for much more than maybe ideas. I bet your hardest challenge with writing the adventures is that you can't fully account for the impromptu nature of the game, or other important details like individual character's destinies/tragedies. The game's very design makes a concrete story plan so hard to make work, that I just usually details a few specifics events and take general notes for what might happen after that. XD

That sound great Smiley

I can't wait to see all the stuff you are doing.

Cheers, and Thanks again.

Wondering if we have any further word?  I've seen several places where it sounded like Alex said they were getting close in late 2012 early 2013 and then haven't seen anything else.

Also on a side note did we ever figure out what the deal was with "Once Upon a Time in the Roughs" at GenCon this year? Tried several times but couldn't get into another game all weekend with Generics.

Alex is on vacation just now and isn't answering email regularly (nor should he, what with being on vacation and all). Thus I can't ask him. I do know Thieves isn't ready yet. Just not sure how far along it is or how much is left to get done. Alex has been a busy beaver the last while, but his focus has necessarily been elsewhere. Beyond that, can't say.

Can't say, and probably won't ever be in a position to say. Maybe we'll iron out the kinks, maybe we won't. If we do, you'll see the adventure. If not, you won't. That's the last word on that particular topic, I'm afraid. We can't elaborate.

Sorry to hear that you weren't able to get into any more events during the show. They were bustling!

I'm also curious about "Thieves of the Ninth House." I understand that it isn't ready yet so are there any other one-shot game supplements out there? I'd like to try running a game but I've never DM'ed before and having something to try out with friends would be great.

On another note, are there any people running online games that would welcome another player? I have the core book and I ordered the AoL and Terris supplements a couple of days ago. I have experience with Pathfinder and D&D 3.5 and have played by Skype before.

I really enjoy Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn world and would love to play around in it with some like-minded people.

There are a number of play-by-post games running over on steelministry.com. New Mistborn games start up there occasionally, so it may be worth keeping an eye on their forums.
