Just throwing this out as possibly another great venture for the Crafty Bunch.

Zombie-Craft?  Okay.. terrible name.  But, if you've ever read the Zombie Survival Guide / World War Z by Max Brooks, he details mankinds fight against the zombie armageddon, mankinds wins & loses, outbreak areas.  Etc.  World War Z made New York Best Seller list and has been brokered for a Movie deal... so I'm just assuming if there was a good time for Zombies.. it's quickly coming.

I would just love to see a Campaign Horror Setting from the makers of the book my wife calls "Big enough to kill people" (Aka. Spycraft 2.0).  And what better horror setting than the Zombie armageddon?  Just a thought.

I think they're doing that with Fragile Minds and Crucible.  Huh?  Or at least all the tools will be there.

I would SO DEARLY LOVE to get a license to World War Z. But as you say, it's been inked for a movie deal and zombie films are still all the rage (even 30 Days of Night's vampiric baddies were more like zombies than traditional vamps). That means more money than the Four (don't forget Steve!) have the scratch to chase ATM. Probably.

Thankfully, with Crucible, we have the next best thing Smiley Is it sad when you're a tremendous fanboy of your partner's setting concepts?

It's still a ways out - as in "only in ideaspace" for the moment. Each of the 3 writers has a setting we've been tooling around with since the company first started - Scott has Farthest Star, the space opera toolkit; Pat has Crucible, the horror toolkit; and I have Shatterpunk, the cyberpunk toolkit. FantasyCraft shoehorned itself in there, and has progressively muscled its way to the front of the line thanks to expediency issues caused by D&D 4th ed (which we announced FantasyCraft against, totally out of ignorance of WotC's plans) Smiley.

You'll hear more about Crucible after we get through FC and 10kB most likely.

In the meantime, if you're looking for zombie goodness, I highly recommend reading my blog.

I was hoping to see Crucible in time for next Halloween... are the chances slim or looking good?

You and me too!

I don't think it's slated for release anytime soon, I'm sure it's not even really started yet.

World War Z was given to me last Christmas. It would make a great setting.

My personal goal - not the company's at this point but mine - is to see Crucible in your hands by Halloween 2008. I cannot guarantee that, however, as it relies on so many wildcard factors I can't even begin to list them. So the changes are neither looking slim nor good - just hopeful.

Koala - I think you'll be pleased with Crucible. The inhabitants of that setting will be wishing, nay praying, for a zombie plague when I get done with them.  Wink

Crafty_Pat:  From the work on Spycraft 2.0 that the company is done, I'm excited about the Crucible, and I don't even have any details.   Grin Hell, I'm even going to pick up Fantasy Craft, and I have a general distaste for midievil fantasy.  (I blame that on mostly AD&D 3+.  Hack and slash and to hell with skills.  But I digress.)

Once something that's a non "pick" system for gear is established, this would be great.
