Any Mistborn pbp games starting up?
« on: July 07, 2012, 08:12:53 PM »
Is anyone thinking of running a Mistborn play by post?  If so, I'd love to get involved.

First, welcome to the boards!

Second, I've thought about playing in or running a Mistborn PbP game for a while now. If no one else invites you to a game, I'll see if I can put something together.

Thank you on both counts!

I'm still reading through the pdf and eagerly awaiting being able to get my hands on one of the books.  But I'm anxious to try the game out.  I've read the first trilogy of novels, also, and of course love them. :)

I'd be interested in joining a PBP game as well, if there are any prospective narrators out there reading this...  ;D

I would be interested in narrating an adventure at my site: steelministry.info.

I have never narrated before (except for Mafia games), but when I heard that there was a Mistborn RPG I just had to play it. I made an adventure for my usual crowd, but they are married guys, and we haven't been able to get together yet. Having no official adventure to compare it with (9th house ???) I don't know if my adventure is long or short or too deep, or too shallow, but anybody who promises not to snigger or get mad, if it is not up to expectations, is welcome to join.

I can make those promises easily. :)

And I would certainly be interested in playing.

"When"

I think (having no idea if I am full of aluminum or not;) that the adventure will accomidate 3-6 players, and ye have one signed up already, so when we get three i'll open up the schemeing portion of the game.

I've signed up and posted my character idea. Does it need approving/discussion?

Yeah we will discuss character progression and further backstory in private (That is one thing I like about PBP games) and I have moved your character to the Character sheets forum.

We need one-two more people to really start planning. We already have a mistborn and a hazekiller. Still looking for a few good players!

How frequently would you be asking people to update? I have never played any PBP games before but think I would be interested. If nothing else I would love to keep up with your game posts if that would be cool with all involved.

Oh, I don't know about post pacing. It would be nice(at least when in a combat cituation) to be able to resolve something every day, but I don't think I would get upset if someone was slower, or if they blanked out for a few days  (hopefuly with some notice) The best would be if the whole team can get into sync. I usualy get online about 4-8 times a day.

If you want to just watch, I can set you up with viewing rights of you register and ask on the forum. ;)

Tecslicer, since i can't seem to respond to your PM, here are answers to your questions.

1. His first priorities are to boost his Resources by 1 to acquire a mistcloak (He lost his when he was disinherited, so getting a new one is a symbol for him of regaining his position) and to pick up Steel deflection and Steelrunning/Ironslide. After that, I don't have a clear plan yet. This can be justified by having him work with the hazekiller to get more wealth and practice his skills.

2. Danil originally belonged to House Ferrus, a cousin House of House Venture out in the Eastern Dominance. The brand is a little bit hard to describe. Picture a circle inside another circle, with the two circles connected by four lines, each a quarter of the way around the circle from the others. The branding is the way House Ferrus tests for Allomancers. Danil was tested in this manner at ten and revealed as a Mistborn. He spent several years as a fairly regular noble until his father decided it was time he "became a man." Both out of regular chastity and because he already knew what would happen to the woman, Danil flat-out refused. This was the first of a series of quarrels between Danil and his father that finally resulted in an epic showdown, at the end of which Danil was thrown out of his House and commanded never to return again. Danil gave himself the new surname of Drome and went undercover until he washed up in Luthadel.
