16. Having tools that let you determine what the mood/tone of your fantasy game is.
17. Having a handy mechanic to allow people to not die via bullshit deaths, just cause one shlub got a good hit in.

Action Dice, Campaign Qualities, Cheating Death, and Narrative Control are the 4 things that I go to first to explain the major differences to other long-time gamers.

I think the biggest difference by far is the way NPCs are handled
