I'd disagree, Mister A. I see talents as inborn (personality or race), while Specialities are training (Doctor, Hunter).

Not per Crafty Pat. A while back, when discussing organizations as origins, he suggested that an organization like 24's CTU would be a talent, permitting you to create different, er, specialties in the organization... like CTU suit, CTU investigator, etc.
OMG I just realized that I can use the Officer Training with the Military origins. I only need to tinker with them a little bit.
Thanks Psion.

Ok, those two were giving me a headache. Artillery - ordnance type weapons aren't really covered by the rules and no coverage means no little things to upgrade. Diving - the hint is something I included after realizing that sometimes those guys need to act according to their gut feeling, like when they are looking for a "lost" warhead in the sea.

Law Enforcement:

From experiance, [and possibly US Militaries book] - Listening penalties, big ones.  I believe in first ed you could never have listen as a class skill.  Now that we have notice that won't work, but perhaps anything with the hearing tag has a lowered result cap?

But Air Defense Artillery was Coastal Artillery, way back when we used 16" cannon.  Who remembers the M-16 Half-track?  The one with the quad .50 cal turret.  These days ADA uses Stinger and Patriot missiles.

I would venture a bonus to spot checks and proficiency with tactical weapons.  Instead of a bonus to requests, a bonus to scrounging up "unwanted" gear.  (We got no love, ever.)

Sorry, I wasn't replying to your post - just mentioning that field artillery guys all have varying degree's of industrial deafness.  ADA is a beast of another colour.  Thou I do agree with your alterations to the standard artilery talent to make them into ADA.

Oh and I love the M16 half track, I even scratch built one for my imperial guard army back in the day.  Had to do the old "counts as an X" to use it thou.

Bliss is converting from TRADOC (USAADASCH) to FORSCOM (1AD), gaining close to 30,000 soldiers (including 4 HBCTs and 2 IBCTs), and has opened all of McGregor to heavy off-road vehicle maneuver. I suspect the staff (and even more so the city) are in for a rude shock when the school leaves and the new 2-star rolls in with all those combat arms hooligans (tongue firmly in cheek on the "hooligan" business). Tongue

Could the duckhunters please leave the elder god summoning alphabet soup out of this? There are computers under the age of thirteen accessing these boards. Wink

Bwahahahahaha!  Your computers are doomed to...something, maybe.

But speaking as one of those combat hooligans, I think El Paso will adjust fairly quickly and like the expanded base.  There will be some dicey times as the Joes learn to stay out of Juarez, and probably a few deaths and some big brawls.

That could probably be termed natural selection, like the skin heads who jumped a Mexican-American USMC Sergeant outside a Navy/Marine bar in San Diego.

Not to break the mood here, but OT discussions have their own sub-forum.

The currrent rules for Origins do not give penalties.  I try to convert everything to conform to the new rules instead of slavishly following the old ones.

About air defense -> when I finish converting what's in the book + SOCOM units, then I'll think about it. And I hope to do it soon.
