The latest news I know is this, which was posted on April 3.
We expect to transfer the master files to the printer by no later than next Monday, and after that itís a matter of working with their schedule to figure out when the printed products will arrive back to us. It usually takes 4Ė6 weeks to turn physical copies around, though it varies a bit based on many factors at the printerís end, and we wonít be sure of any subsequent dates until we confirm with them. With this in mind, weíre probably looking at books arriving back to us sometime in mid to late May. Shipping will commence immediately, and of course weíll fill all pre-orders first.
So they should be getting the print books in by mid to late May.
In answer to that question BTW, it's still going to be a bit. We're very close to shipping the master files to the printer now, but the printing process usually takes 4-6 weeks (sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less), and there's shipping and distribution to consider after that (usually the same stretch of time, again give or take, to get books from the printer to our fulfillment house to distributors and finally into stores).
Direct order sales will be shipped as soon as we receive the books back from the printer, which should probably shave about a month off that process (once again, give or take).
So even if distribution takes 6 weeks, they should be good to go by the middle of July. Pre-orders should be sooner. And I would imagine if they were going to bring books to Gen Con, they would also skip the distribution process and be available sooner.
