The Gen Con 2012 event catalog has been released and we're just two weeks from registration going live, so it's time to consider how you'll be spending the Best Four Days in Gaming! (To view the listings, you will need to log into your Gen Con account and click the "Find Events" link in the left naivgation panel. From there, you can browse events by type, day, grouup, and more. If you'd prefer a spreadsheet version, you can download it here.)

Crafty Games has events running all weekend for Fantasy Craft and the Mistborn Adventure Game, but the big news is our special celebrity session with Mistborn creator Brandon Sanderson. That's right, six lucky winners will have the chance to play a full five-hour session of the Mistborn Adventure Game with the novel author himself!

This event happens Sunday from 11am to 4pm and seats will be raffled off throughout the weekend at the Crafty Games booth in the dealer's hall (like last year, we're in the Studio 2 block this time around - watch our site for the exact booth number as we close on the weekend). Every purchase at the Crafty Games booth will earn you one or more raffle tickets, so be sure to keep us on your shopping lists.

Brandon will also be signing at our booth Saturday from 4:30pm to 6pm, which is a great time to stop by and pick up your very own copy of the Mistborn Adventure Game and get it signed by the man himself.  Brandon is Gen Con's Author Guest of Honor this year and will also be doing special readings and panels all weekend.

Don't forget to watch us on Facebook, Twitter, and the Crafty Games news feed for more details about this amazing weekend.

We look forward to seeing you at the show! Stay Crafty!

So, will Brandon be the Narrator or fellow Hero?

Without intending to sound negative, are Crafty cutting it a little tight to have print versions of Mistborn at Gencon 2012? I thought a three month turn around from sending files to the printer to having print copies would be a minimum safe distance.

The latest news I know is this, which was posted on April 3.

We expect to transfer the master files to the printer by no later than next Monday, and after that itís a matter of working with their schedule to figure out when the printed products will arrive back to us. It usually takes 4Ė6 weeks to turn physical copies around, though it varies a bit based on many factors at the printerís end, and we wonít be sure of any subsequent dates until we confirm with them. With this in mind, weíre probably looking at books arriving back to us sometime in mid to late May. Shipping will commence immediately, and of course weíll fill all pre-orders first.

So they should be getting the print books in by mid to late May.

In answer to that question BTW, it's still going to be a bit. We're very close to shipping the master files to the printer now, but the printing process usually takes 4-6 weeks (sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less), and there's shipping and distribution to consider after that (usually the same stretch of time, again give or take, to get books from the printer to our fulfillment house to distributors and finally into stores).

Direct order sales will be shipped as soon as we receive the books back from the printer, which should probably shave about a month off that process (once again, give or take).

So even if distribution takes 6 weeks, they should be good to go by the middle of July.  Pre-orders should be sooner.  And I would imagine if they were going to bring books to Gen Con, they would also skip the distribution process and be available sooner.

**Disclaimer:  I am not an employee of Crafty nor do I have any direct knowledge of the current print status.  I am just pulling information from other posts to bring together all the information I know concerning the subject.**

Which leaves only 2-3 weeks leeway, with a "sometimes a bit more" in there too. As said, seems a little tight.

We're fine for books at the show. They probably won't be here much sooner than that but they'll easily make Gen Con.

Details are firming up quickly on that front, now that we've overcome some logistical hurdles. I expect we'll be able to speak much more clearly about ETAs very soon.

They will only be available through booth purchases and will not be sold separately.

For those of you who already have our book(s), don't worry. As we mentioned through our various social feeds yesterday, there will be not one but two new Sekret Ambush Products at the show, so everyone will have something new to grab if they want to jump into the raffle.

Watch our site and the feeds next week. That's when we'll be announcing tons of details about Gen Con and the (many) things we'll have going on there this year.
