I always found it hilarious that a ship as small as the YT-1300 could in any way run any sort of legal profit operating interstellar routes

Han was being an ass, and the whole "Corellian run dodging black holes" is a stupid ass-pull.

Difficult.  Maybe.  Also worth mentioning is the automation that makes the Millennium Falcon a two crew ship.  (That is, IMO, a massive and unnecessary safety risk.  I would consider six to be a minimum safe crew size.)

Running some rough numbers, I think she can lift about 1,200 tons of wheat, 1,100 tons of corn, or a bit under 1000 tons of soy beans.  (Calculations assume about 1,900 cubic meters of cargo space.)  The YT-1300s are only 100,000 credits new.  The big question is how much fuel costs.  I can see two part machine to mill and bag wheat being available, and allowing one ship to safely load bulk wheat and safely discharge/sell bagged flour.  (You don't ship milled flour, it is explosive.)  Moving more valuable things than grain could earn notable money, and of course smuggling brings a large illicit product premium.

They land smaller star ships on planets, instead of using shuttles, so fuel must be pretty cheap?

(Edited to include the cargo cubic used for calculations and add the note on more valuable cargoes.)

they were all good choice, but i had to go w/ Mr. A since I could only choose 2 Conan, and Bebop, but I really wanted comedic horror, and mass effect as well.

Morrow Project....good stuff I like that. I got a copy of the Armory a while back that Kevin did for Mutant, Spies, & Private Eyes, and the Espionage RPGs. It's a very cool book that for it's time had to be the bible for any modern weapons in a RPG the amount of detail that he put into was crazy.

I'd play anything. I just don't have the time to run anything anymore.  Cry

On the other hand, any time I volunteer for a PbP, it dies within a week or I get turned down. I mean, it's not like I know what i'm doing, is it?  Roll Eyes

I purposefully limited it to 2 options to force people to pick the options they are MOST interested in.
From a methodological standpoint, similar polls without restricting the number of responses tend to result in most respondents checking all or almost all the options, which robs the poll of a good chunk of the potential value of gauging what people are most interested in.
Where people feel like it's difficult to pick 2 out of 10, well, the forum is working nicely to allow people to add comments -- "I'd also be interested in X, Y, and Z, but A and B are my top choices"

A fire breathing cat-girl with a cute dragon tail.  Just sayin'.

Technically that would be gonzo space fantasy espionage, but we aren't that worries about it.

Slight necro? I don't visit this forum often enough, but thought I'd throw caution to the wind.

No Mistborn love? Well, it gets my vote. As for this Mister Anderson's take:

Mistborn? I suspect that I wouldn't mind an Alloy of Law era game because it's inherently less crapsack than the original trilogy's millennium and is far far more openended, unlike the Final Empire where you know that nothing you do is going to have mattered because it's there in the text that the baddies always win

I can see where you are coming from, but let me se if I can change your mind. Scadrial is a pretty big place. I think it would be a lot of fun to explore the many regions never really covered in the books. In particular, I would like to play a Mistborn game that focuses on the Outer Dominances. You can forget about a lot of the normal Mistborn expectations. Squabbling nobility? You could get rid of them or introduce different nobility that have their own quirks and mannerisms. They are relatively isolated out in the middle of nowhere, after all.

The Terris Dominance has options like exploring Tathingdwen, trying to convince the synod to take action, or letting a group of Keepers go to town on Steel Inquisitors and Mistwraiths or Koloss.

The Southern Islands present a place for swashbuckling adventures and pirates/privateers! Want to run a contraband smuggling operation? Can do! Allomancers on the high seas? Yes, please!

The Burnlands provide another opportunity for change with its whole man-against-nature and wasteland survival focus.

All would be quite different from the urban landscape of Luthadel presented in the novels. Also, why stick to Vin being the hero? Rewrite the story! The idea that nothing you do matters because it is in the text is only a limitation if you let it be. Remember, the whole world can (will?) be remade by the Hero of Ages. The Hero of Ages doesn't have to be the same character as in the books, either. To me, that would be like giving the Emperor or Darth Vader plot immunity in a Star Wars game because they are destined to die by Luke's hand. Besides, we have Brandon's permission and encouragement to make changes to the setting!

I've also thought it would be fun to run Mistborn a bit like Shadowrun (or run Shadowrun using the Mistborn rules, but that would take more time). Already the nobility act like a bunch of Mr. Johnsons looking to sabotage their rivals and everybody deals in secrets.

Now, as I jump down off my high horse (likely landing on my face), I also voted for Epic Fantasy. Just once, I would like to turn on all of the Campaign Qualities that benefit the players and see how high they can go. I'm thinking that they'll go all the way to eleven...

Mistborn as shadowrun and vice versa does sound intriguing.

Still, the thing about final empire era mistborn though is that you can only change so much and have it still be the same setting.  For instance, the lord ruler still has to be a colossally evil jackass who is crushing the entirety of civilzation, and crushing it in a manner that is just uneven enough to leave the commoners envious and resentful of the nobility.  That means things like Skaa are still forbidden to travel and the Terris are still oppressed to within an inch of their existence.  So yeah, you could throw out the events of the books, but in that case there's not much left except to replicate those events in your game.

Also, this is relevant to your epic fantasy

Mistborn as shadowrun and vice versa does sound intriguing.

I've been tempted to give it a crack as a way to extend the system beyond Mistborn. As my introduction to Shadowrun was 2nd Edition, I'm a fan of the runner's street slang. I was sad to see it go in 4th Edition.

Still, the thing about final empire era mistborn though is that you can only change so much and have it still be the same setting.

I agree and disagree at the same time! To me, Alloy of Law is a wildly different setting, yet has that same Mistborn feeling to it, too. I think the feeling is what I would be more interested in replicating, no matter how the setting changes. That is why I also mentioned exploring the far reaches of Scadrial. Same setting, just different, I don't know, locations? Perhaps where the Lord Ruler's influence isn't quite so strong?

Also, this is relevant to your epic fantasy

xkcd is pretty much always relevant. Thanks for the link!

I'll see what I can do.
