Sainrith
Sainrith calls ”Quickly, bring the light ” then begins to pursue the fleeing foes. Thwarted by lack of light he pauses, listens, and fires a shot into the dark.

Wallace wades through the entangling mushrooms retrieve the lantern, and then makes for the nearest edge of the entangled area.  He'll begin moving toward Sainrith with any left over movement he might have.

As Shadefire and Sainrith fire after the fleeing creatures, Vár skewers the last of the combatants while Wallace reclaims the lantern.

Shadefire

shadefire takes one last shot at the running creature before collecting his staff and calling out

Miss. However, as he moves carefully, he takes the time to look more closely, at both the strange creatures they've been fighting and at the mushrooms themselves.

Knowledge Check

There are 2 types of mushrooms in this circle -- some large, others much smaller, looking like small, tiny shoots, mossy and soft, seemingly just burst from the ground, yet strangely similar to these strange enemies.
And then the druid understands -- a Night Wose -- an elemental spirit of poisonous plants, conjured into the form of living fey. And for such a creature to be present, especially with these small mushrooms -- that look as much like a young night wose as a young mushroom present, there must be a conjurer or some other mind, dabbling in the dark arts of venoms and unnatural growth.

As Sainrith fires into the darkness he is rewarded by a short grunt of pain and a soft, shuffling thud.

Vár

If the last creature isn't dead by Var's turn, he'll move over and poke it before it leaves.

Finishing off the last straggler, Vár yanks his spear point out of the twitching body.

Wallace

Wallace escapes the entanglement and moves to rejoin his companions near the North-east tunnel.

In seconds Sainrith steadies himself, focuses and holds his breath then fires hoping to get in a last shot before the creature moves too far away...

"I'd prefer not to rush headlong into another trap, and I definitely don't like having our retreat blocked off.  I say we dig out the tunnel and collect Grimm and Khelos before we go any farther.  The tunnels seem to be wide enough from here."

Wallace

Almost on cue, the rubble-filled tunnel begins to rumble in a cloud of dust.

The companions pause to brace themselves...

Quote
Bursting out of the half-collapsed tunnel in a cloud of rocks, dust, and debris, Grimmar rises having burrowed his way through the collapse, until he found Vár's scent and pushed the rest of the way through.

The great beast looks at the carnage and looks accusingly at Vár, as if saying
"You had fun without me?"

Khelos's bark shows the wolf was no less disobedient, only perhaps less direct by circling through the left-hand tunnels to the sound of battle.

In seconds Sainrith steadies himself, focuses and holds his breath then relaxes his bow -- the target is gone.

Wallace blinks, sighs, then turns back to Sainrith"Well, never mind.  There's probably no cause for stealth at this point, but keep an eye out for more traps.  Lead on, friend, and don't get too far ahead."
Wallace

If we're going to give chase, Wallace will follow Sainrith at a distance of about 10 feet.

"Easy Grimmr, there will be more to come." Var speaks softly to the beast, "Whatever's through there knows we're coming - nothing we can do about it now." Var moves in near Wallace, let Sainrith take point.

Our heroes move toward the North-East tunnel, following their fleeing opponents, but as the light catches up with the light-hearted Sainrith, only a short distance into the tunnel presents a new challenge.

This chamber is filled from floor to ceiling with sharp, spiked branches of interwoven thorn bushes. You can hear something -- rustling on on the far side, but this thicket wall may be at least 10 feet thick!

hrmm, these are not natural, thoughts on how we should pass? sounds like something is inside, and we could set it on fire, though that would fill everything with smoke, and cutting through would take a while.

"There must be a way through." Var begins to search the area, see if he can find any hidden method of opening the way or finding a secret passage.
