How does blasts works? seriously, I don't understand

take this 24 damage 2-blast increment diagram and please explain how you fill in all the missing squares

Each odd square in diagonal is "worth" 1 square in straight line, each even square is worth 2. Ground zero doesn't count.

So in any of your two cases, the next diagonal case is 12, the next two 6, the next one 3, the next two 1, and then 0. If I count right. Same reasoning for filling the other squares left between the straight ones and the diagonal.

It's as simple as aegis said, you count the distance and figure it from there.  Your patterns are larger then they should be.
