Yeah, I'm afraid that would be out. The iconics work in part because they're only showcasing a small slice of the overall package, and also because it's being repackaged in a very specific way. What you're describing here would definitely cause problems for the official brand, and we'd have to decline. Sorry.

That's pretty much what I figured. Hope you can still make use of the idea for 10kb demos though.

It's a wicked cool idea. Hopefully we'll get to use it in some capacity at some point.

Heh, as long as you give me a shout-out in the credits and a secret decoder ring, it's your to use as you see fit Smiley

Sounds like we're back to sample pre-gens.

Unless the Crafty guys would rather we didn't.

My brother wants me to run a game for some of his friends.  Most of them have never played a pnp rpg before.  I figure I would start with a standard fantasy game.  At first, I thought about running pathfinder, 4e, or a custom skill based d20 system my friends use but then I remember fantasy craft.

I have been wanting to try out Fantasy Craft for a while now.  I was curious if you guys had any suggestions for running Fantasy Craft for new rpgers and how well it has worked out for players with little rpg experience?

Speaking back to the original poster, you might find these resources useful:

This is my 4-panel GMs screen insert https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4TR5rppCdAYY2U5ODhhMzItMTM3Yy00MjFkLTk3MzktN2UzZTdkZGNlYjc0, again formatted for panel orientation because that's what I've got.

In addition to this, I have 4 panels (on both the outside of my screen and separately, back to back, in clear plastic sleeves for the players) this Player's Basics + Conditions + Combat Actions pages:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4TR5rppCdAYOGM5ZjExZTMtNDljYi00NmZhLTk4Y2QtNDRiODNlNmFjODAx

This is really useful for new players stepping in to try out the game.

Secret decoder ring, eh? Remind me of this conversation later. You'll know when.

No no, those are fine. There's probably a point where you'll hit diminishing returns, and there are some obvious limits when it comes to what you can and/or should put in a pregen, but we'll raise a hand if we see anything that's out of line.

Thanks!

Oh, obviously.  It's just that there are a few of the really cool options, like drakes and unborn, that don't have anything like an iconic.  Seeing as how stuff like that gets mentioned as reason people got into the game on other boards I've visited I think they are serious must-haves for beginners to choose from.

It'd make for a cool official deck of cards.  You could even make booster packs for new books.  Oh, and I would totally buy Spellbound in card form - just keep a deck of known spells when playing a caster, easy as (you could even colour code it for schools).  I suspect it'd be horrifically expensive though (900 cards sounds like a lot, but I'm not a card game player so I'm not sure).

Absolutely, and we encourage you to build those. They'll be incredibly useful to everyone.

It would, actually, and I've love to make that product. Sadly, 900 cards would be insanely expensive to produce, and there'd just be no way to break even with it, let alone make a profit.

This sounds like a good place for another "generator" product, that accepts cut-n-paste blocks of spell text and turns them into something card-formatted. The info blocks are almost there anyway.
