$5.50? Where do you live? Even my bargain theaters run higher than that.

Just south of Brisbane (Australia).  The cinema near my place has $5.50 student tickets (and the same company has another location in the city).  Adults are $6.50.  Even their snacks are really cheap - like $6.50 for both a popcorn and Pepsi.  The big chain cinema (Event) is like $14 or something for just student tickets, which I just can't justify (given I can get tickets and a drink for less then a 10er).  They release films the same dates as every other Aussie cinema and their cinemas are nice, too.

A buddy of mine lives in London and is part of an "Unlimited movies club" which is about 100 pounds / year, but gives unlimited cinema visits.  I'd go for that if I could (and easily make it worth the money).

Whoa, it wss 9.50 each last time I went to the Cinema. Usually with a 2 3D charge if you want to watch in 3D.
And that's our more valuable British Pounds.

In this burg, it's $5 for the first show of the day, $6.50 for other matinees, $8 for evening shows. $1.50 at the better of the two discount theaters.
The above may be conjecture, deliberate paraphrase, or outright bullshit.

A fully armoured Robocop (with bike) - to be perfectly honest, I don't mind it. It looks a bit like Robot Batman, so that works for me. It will be good to see him in motion, though.

The more I look at him, the more I realise he looks like a gothed up new Cyberman, right down to the 'C' on his chestplate.

Went to see Cloud Atlas over the weekend.
Currently holds my top slot for the year, though come December the Hobbit will overthrow it.
Managed to weave the six stories together just about perfectly, only time I got lost was trying to parse Tom Hanks' newspeak in the post-apocalyptic world, and then only during a single big infodump.
The Wachowski touch really showed during the Cyberpunk bit, and the makeup was nothing short of phenomenal. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

Glue some soup cans to the sides of his head and we're golden. ;)

Went to see Cloud Atlas over the weekend.

I'm so stupidly excited about that movie. Sadly, I doubt I'll be able to see it before I leave for the latest Crafty Games Summit (which starts this Thursday), and given the movie's poor performance over the weekend it's anybody's guess whether it will stick around long before for me to catch it at all. :(

Is Arnold coming back as Conan?

If this happens I hope they keep making Mamoa flicks alongside. I know it's a long shot, especially given the new flick's box office (and Hollywood's inability to grasp diversity, nuance, or slow growth as valuable tactics), but I rather liked the 2011 film and would love to see that strain of the character continue. Plus, depending on how they present the stories, there isn't any reason the chronicles couldn't co-exist.

But, as I say, it's a longshot (as in largely impossible at this point), so I'll just cross my fingers that the new elder Conan flick is worth its salt.

Sadly, they've already decided not to. I also liked the 2011 reboot, and found it truer to the original stories than Arnie's two movies. Shame that The Machine demands movies be smash hits before anyone even thinks about making a sequel.

*insert generic rage about it's Feb 21st release date*

I'm glad to hear that it's as good as it looks, I've been looking forward to it for a little while now.

Or, in other Cloud Atlas thought...

Bonus points for invoking "Springtime for Hitler".  :)  I don't care one way or another about Cloud Atlas, but I'm always entertained when Vaux decides a movie just really isn't worth a fuck.

Tell me that review didn't make you want to see it even more though?  Unless it's just that I'm a sucker for both really good films and really (really) bad ones?
