Who among us saw the Dark Shadow movie.  I want to hear from those of you who saw it before I go see it.  I wanted to see 21 Jumpstreet because I was a huge fan of the TV show but the movie's portrayel really turned me off so I guess I'm being a bit cautious.

I did, and posted my thoughts are a couple pages back.  Just to clairfy though: I hadn't seen the TV show before seeing the film, so was judging it completely on it's own merits (which also means that I likely had less expectations for it to fulfill).  Hopefully someone who was also a fan of the show has seen it and can give you their opinion.

So, just got out of MiB3.

I saw it in IMAX3D. As I mentioned before, the imax thing is a quirk of mine with 3d, but the 3d part was well done. Not to the level of Avatar or Tron, but the made good use of it. I'm not sure you miss anything in 2d other then some cool effects in the fight scenes.

The movie was funny and Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones/Josh Brolin have good chemistry. Emma Thomson haming it up talking alien was hilarious. Jemaine Clement and Michael Stuhlbarg delivered excellent supporting preformances. The plot's hinkey (time travel) in places, but just enjoy the ride and it's all good.

It's not as awesome as the Avengers, but it's damn good.

There are a stack of Iron Man 3 spoilers out there today that are almost impossible to miss if you employ a reader and scan headlines as I do. Still, I will spare you guys the spoilage here, and simply alert folks to go looking if they want to know.

Meanwhile, there's news on the actual why behind the G.I. Joe: Retaliation delay. As I privately suspected, it reportedly has nothing to do with 3D at all.

I thought the 3D thing seemed somewhat implausible.  Producers/Directors of a film of it's budget don't just decide at the very last minute "Hey, this needs some 3D" and certainly not for foreign markets.  3D would have been planned from day 1.

I find it weird that Duke originally died early on - the trailer made it seem like it was Duke and Roadblock vs Cobra.  Especially since Channing Tatum is in posters as "Starring".  Though I would have given them props for making a bold descision and having a twist I wasn't expecting.

OK, so I went and looked up the Iron Man 3 spoilers. Here are my thoughts as to the direction they seem to be going:

If I were a betting man, I'd wager that the Mandarin doesn't have super-powerful alien rings in the movie-verse, just the Ten Rings organization. The sheer number of villains so far spoiled seems to me like they're going with something like Armor Wars or Justin Hammer's old legion of super-villains from the Demon In A Bottle story line. I suspect that The Mandarin(Ben Kingsley) uses his influence to get a businessman (Guy Pierce) to build a bunch of Iron Man knockoffs (Iron Patriot, Firepower, possibly more) that Tony then needs to defeat.

The fact that Pierce's character is named after the creator of Extremis is coincidence, they've already used Stane and Hammer and just picked another of Tony's business rivals at (semi) random. Slightly less random if the rumors about Maya Hansen being the female scientist who rivals Tony's intellect are true.

Totally agree about the Mandarin (and an Armour Wars style story).

I just hope like hell that Iron Man 3 (and Avengers 2) stays away from Extremis (and it's sucessor, Bleeding Edge Armour).  It almost completely turned me off Iron Man.  I normally like Warren Ellis's work too.  So hopefully you're right and it's just a coincidence / semi-random choice).

Branded trailer: I expect there's more to this story, because right now it looks like They Live via Vanilla Sky without the 10-minute pugilism scene. Nice execution though!
