Neither Dark Shadows nor 21 Jump Street should have been comedies. One should have been a horror film and the other a serious drama...

I never even watched the original Jump Street and I knew from the first ad that this remake was going to be a travesty.

Thing is, Jump Street as a comedy could work. If, you know, it was actually a comedy and not the usual fratboy drivel that passes for such in American cinema these days.

If you get the chance, the original TV show 21 Jump Street is a good dramatic show. It was the first show in the US to actually do a show about a teenager with AIDS back in 1988 when no one really knew anything about it. There was some solid groundbreaking material back then.

Just got out of John Carter in IMAX.

Good movie, although while I enjoyed it in IMAX 3D, it doesn't scream to be seen as such.

The trailers for Promethus and Avengers were worth seeing, especially the later in 3D.

I saw it in standard and no one I was with felt like they were really missing out on the 3D (I can't watch live action films in 3D, so I made them all see it with me in 2D).  I liked it too (as did the people I was with - including my Mum who said she didn't want to see it all the way leading up to us seeing it, and then totally enjoyed it).

That just looks all shades of awesome. ... Once again, humanity has dared to venture someplace without looking where they are going.

Once again, humanity has dared to venture someplace without looking where they are going.

It would seem that in the universe where all movies take place, they don't have horror films.  Because if they did, they wouldn't go alone into the dark woods or open the closed door or venture into the abandoned house or visit strange planets.

I hold to the doubtlessly vain hope that he is referring to their origins as the product of an alien industrial accident.
