If you read the article Pat linked, it says the tentative name for the Marvel TV series is Shield. So, yeah.

I read the article, but from my own understanding SHIELD is a show in development with Marvel and ABC, but it may or may not be the same show Joss is doing.

If that's the case, then it will probably include Mockingbird (Barbara Morse), Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) and perhaps Sharon Carter. Each have strong SHIELD ties. Well, Drew was recruited by Fury to be a double-agent for HYDRA.

Doreen Green is the only female hero that perfectly fits Joss's style.

Besides, she'll need some introduction to the non-comic geek audience before she can save the world from You-Know-Who in Avengers 2 or 3.

Oh yeah, but I didn't include her because she's a mutant. I thought that another studio had all the rights to the mutants in the Marvel universe. I did recall reading that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch could be used, but there could be no reference to their past (link to Magneto) or anything that would have them established in the universe where the X-Men reside.

Other then her past relationship with Wolverine, she's pretty solidly on the Avengers/Fantastic Four side of the house.

They'll probably stay away from Spider-Woman too, unless they can come up with an origin that isn't too close to Spider-Man.

My money's on She Hulk, Luke Cage, and other heroes with minimal special effects. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the cast were SHIELD agents who are joined by one or two supers each week, depending on the mission.

Spider Woman is pretty intimately connected with Hydra, but the problem is that the recent Amazing Spider Man is arguably treading a little on her origin's toes.

Daredevil would have been a perfect series to adapt to TV too, but even though it would be rather more effects intensive (assuming you couldn't find a woman with the physique of a body builder and height of a basketballer who can also act) I'd rather a She-Hulk (and Jazinda) series if you're going to tap the superpowered lawyer genre

Wasn't there rumours of David E Kelly doing a She-Hulk series?  Or did I dream that.  I haven't slept in a while, so it could go either way (the ol' recollection gets a might foggy).

No, it was more David E Kelley's decision to do a superheroine series would have made far far more sense if it had been about She-Hulk or Power Girl, because what he came up with was absolutely nothing that should ever be associated with Wonder Woman.

This is exactly what I'm expecting. Budget alone will demand a minimum number of effects-driven characters, or even those with unusual looks (and therefore makeup requirements).

Antiviral Trailer: The first movie by son of legendary David Cronenberg. It's precisely as f**ked up as you'd expect.

Yep, that's indeed f***ed up.  Thanks for reminding me of this thing's existence, Pat.  I needed another excuse to douse my brain in bleach.  Tongue

Glad I could be of service. Wink

In other movie news...

Red Dawn trailer: Equally f**ked up, but for entirely different reasons.

Also, there's another Dredd banner (which I won't spoiler-fy because it's simply too huge).

I like that Red Dawn trailer. Didn't they finish the film 3 yrs ago? ...Take about capitalizing on Hemsworth.

Much like Cabin in the Woods, this was delayed by MGM's bankruptcy.

...and yes, it's entirely possible this remake will click. The trailer is actually better than I'd expected from a production this troubled. Still, I think this one's got a long haul ahead of it in terms of winning over its key audience.
