Duplicated from OOC thread as it on topic here as well:

I'm just going to give Jigger more time to post our sixth character. If he needs more than a couple of days but is still 'in' we'll assume he is in the caravan until he is done with CharGen. I hope he is still about, if not we'll continue this adventure with 5 guaranteeing there will be at least one free slot on the next recruitment phase.

Only a couple more encounters to go. Stay tuned for the next recruitment phase in a few weeks.
In the mean time I just added this clause to the wiki description of the campaigns rules:

Please restrct yourselves to the FC rules published by Crafty Games. While I really enjoy home brew rules sticking to 'canon' rules will prevent argument when we switch referees. This is especially true for PCs, while one referee might be happy with a house rule species or class the next may not so to prevent disappointment stick to the 'canon'.

Firstly, three of the current players have been very quiet and I am seeking players to take over the characters of Kaze, Grandmother, and Vashkar for the last two scenes or until their original players show up. The details of these characters are on the wiki.

Secondly: Who wants to run the next adventure? If you want to do this read the campaign description and rules on the Wiki. If you volunteer I will help write a transition from the current adventure to yours. If you want to do this your adventure should be about 5 scenes/encounters long or shorter. Please donít hog this space. Short adventures also prevent player and referee fatigue and allow a regular infusion of fresh participants. The adventure should take place in a cold or cool climate. Iím not saying it has to be arctic like the current one but somewhere where it snows in winter. A pseudo-northern European, Japanese, Scandanavian, or Mohawk setting would suit. Currently the PCs plan to over-winter in the arctic circle so the next adventure is likely to be early spring but we could explain another season if needed.

Thirdly : so that we are good to go to the next adventure without a gap Iím going to open recruiting for the next adventure. Please submit your concepts. A Long Road adventure ideally has 6 slots. The current active characters have first 'dibs' on places if they want to continue. After that the remaining slots are chosen by the new referee. I will be submitting a  couple of concepts but do not feel obliged to choose me (I have plenty of other projects to keep me busy anyway).

One thought that keeps popping up is "how to cope with players who fall off the face of the earth for weeks at a time?"

You'd think it'd be less of an issue in a PBP game rather than one constrained to face-to-face table scheduling.

The Long Road was deliberately set up to deal with these fatigue issues. I've had referees go silent too. I thought people could make it through 5 encounters but apparently not. The party size being a little high, 6, is also an attempt to allow for the inevitable loss of a player. Loss of three though is a bit tough.
Still we'll soldier on, perhaps the next adventure will have better luck.
