Color me interested for down the road as a possibility ... just started a new job so it has to occupy my time...

My current thought is an Industrious Peasant - Keeper 3 ... kind of a Crafting genius type who knows how to hold on to his money.
Pity you can't make this adventure but the idea is to have rolling participation to allow for the ebb and flow or acursed real-life. Please feel free to make your character as you find the time and post to the OOC list so your ready when you do get the time.

One place still left this adventure.

It's a sure way to get close to most settlements. Even the most bloodthirsty warlord likes a wandering band of minstrels
-- if they don't helpfully offer to kill us, that is.

Incidentally, Vashkar can sing... his voice is rather unusual, though.  Grin

I'm about halfway to finishing him and he's remarkably well adapted. I think you'll like it. I'm rather proud of managing to spend exactly 300s on gear... but I'd be willing to sacrifice some stuff if we need a group resource pool.

I'm interested. Reserve me a space if you can.

How about cowardly goblin illusionist that posses as a necromancer, because she thinks it will frighten people into leaving her alone. (Mage 3) ..... "A magical con artist who is more scared of you then you are of her. Did anyone say skeleton backup dancers?"

Or

How about a old Viking Skald, looking for one last great adventure before he passes on. (Sage 2 / Preist 1) "A singer and a healer, with a head tactics"

Or

How about a haughty elven archer who takes himself more seriously than should be allowed. (Scout 3) "A warrior poet, who is a legend in his own mind"

Travelling performers?
Mercinary Band of the Long Road?
Well originally the idea was for chance met companions on the road but I have to say I like the idea of some PC's having a history or ties that bind.

How about this?
Any player can suggest a group to exist. Group membership is optional. These can be small groups or large ones like religeons.
Groups that share equipment have 'shares' (in game explanation can be anything you like but OOC this would be the rule). Each share costs 1sp. and is noted near the character's gear near the stake.
Someone needs to list the total numer of shares.
We then need a list of the gear bought with these funds with the sp value and current of each item and a total value. One player has to be nominated to keep track of this.

If you want to pull out you need to be bought out by the others. the cost of the buy out will be (total sp/total shares)x(your shares).
But you don't need to know that, friends forever, right?

OK, you want in on the first adventure you have it!
Any of those concepts are good, I like that each has a good hook for roleplaying.
Also, welcome to the forums I hope you find our community as welcoming and entertaining as I have in the past year or so.

OK
We have 6 players. I will be referee
First adventure is closed.
If you are still keen watch this space for adventure 2

Thanks,

I hope I like it here too. Smiley

The goblin illusionist sounds the most fun, I'd probably go with her unless Lord Kruelos wants to do his Reaper instead.

my thoughts were as follows,
1. this is a setup for several adventures to come, thus an excuse to be traveling together may be needed, also we need a way to make some of the kits we will have portable. thats the caravan. the troupe is an excuse for a large traveling party.
2. we need a reason for people to leave when we they can not participate. when they are not with us on a job, they are guarding the "'van" as it were.
3. having the caravan would be a place to store our stake, a place to sleep on the road and just good story filler for times between adventures.
how the party gets together is usually determined by the party anyway and most of the time isnt decided till the thing starts. so having some coherency between adventures would be nice.

Yep I like it. I suggest other players seriously consider joining the group as entertainers, guards, grooms, or whatever.
How's this I'll provide 30sp of shares from the starting funds of my first character (from adventure 2). This person is currently acting as an absentee patron of the arts.

I can certainly throw minimum 10, probably 20-30 in as well and my obvious role would be a guard.  Grin

Honestly I still like the idea that there's some external force responsible for the group's assembly and change-out of the membership

So, character ideas so far:

* Lava Heritage Lava-Born Dwarf Sorcerer Channeler, specializing in fire spells. Burn, baby, burn...

* Raven Nation Elf sneaky mage aiming for Mist Dancer. Now you see me, now you don't. Also, my knife is in your back.

*Tiger Nation Elf martial artist going for monk. Brawling my way to enlightenment.

* Orc or Giant Captain of some sort (maybe Giant with Orc PL?) Our new (and only) battle tactic: kill them before they kill us.

Now I just gotta pick one...

I can see where you coming from but I have made group membership optional (see OOC thread) for the following reasons:

The comings and goings of random travellers is sufficient to explain party changes

With flaoting player and referee membership any concept we all agree on may not be to the liking of those who will considering joining us at a later date

Optional group membership also allows for a greater diversity of backstory and concepts

Traveling Show sounds excellent, I could defiantly toss some silver to the troop.

Show ideas:
Fortune Telling (Bluff & Insight Spell)
Seances (Bluff & Whisper Spell)
Fireworks Displays (Craft Chemistry)
Magic Tricks (Prestidigitation)
Selling Fake Magic Potions (Craft Pharmacy & Bluff)
Magical Exotic Animals (Farm Animals in cages &Illusionary Image II)
Special Effects (Illusion Spells)
Fire Walking (Resist Energy Spell)
Etc....
