Check out this month's Crafty Games article in Signs and Portents to get a peek at the upcoming Origin of the Species: Classic Fantasy and a new twist on some old favorites of table-top RPGs...

I'm betting Legolas took the Parkour feats that were kicked around on the old board. I found just the place to put them in our new line-up  Cool

What about elves drinking dwarves under the table?

The preview looked great!

Never. Happened.

Thanks! The next one is a doozy, with the full Martial Artist and an all new expert class along with a mini-campaign setting showing off just how much you can do with campaign qualities...

I'm kind of curious to see what non-spycraft D&D players think of the +4/-4 stats for elves, personally.

It certainly makes them a lot more distinctive than the standard SRD version.

But yeah, you definitely got the "I can see for miles and miles" part down  Grin

I showed my friend who is an avid D&D player the Crafty-ized Elf and all he had to say was, "Wow. That's really cool." The fantasy toolkit should really win over some of the guys I play with into Crafty's pocket.

Well, I'm sold on the lethality of elves in combat. -4 con isn't nearly so bad when you have a 25% chance of putting an arrow in someone's eye from a furlong away, and can count the number of flasks on the target's belt from over a mile off with almost no penalty.

There's a reason you don't trespass in the elves' woods.

Who what where?  Maybe I've missed something, but where can I find this "Signs and Portents" that you speak of?

It's Roleplaying edition issue 45 that's got the preview in question.

Like I said, I'm REALLY pleased with elfsight as it works in Spycraft (check that particular scope and think "hmm, weapon with a max of 5 range increments..."

Playtesters were a little concerend the Dwarf was better than the Elf, but mostly because the Dwarf's benefits are more obvious in their function.

Yeah. Definitely. Or their cliffs, or caves, or snowfields...

But Dwarves are better than Elves* Wink

As for the article, it's good stuff. I won't be playing an Elf (by choice) myself, but I think I know a few who would.

(*It's probably not a good idea to follow that link at work. Unless you have headphones. And don't tend to laugh loudly. And aren't drinking anything at the time.)
