Pewter, Copper, Chromium and Bendalloy Savants
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:03:57 AM »
The savant rules at 2 free nudges when making rolls with their respective metals.  My question is, when do you make rolls with these metals?

Pewter makes an attribute higher, do you add the nudges to any pool  that is larger because you are using Pewter?  It might come into play when using the prodigious strength stunt.  Do you ever make a pewter roll?

Chromium and Bendalloy add free dice to certain pools mostly defense.  Should I treat them the same as the pewter example?  Do you ever actually make a chromium roll?

I am at a loss for copper.  It seems that copper only reduces other peoples dice pool, but you don't actually roll it like a defense.

On a related note, bendalloy adds dice when a person in the bubble acts against a person outside the bubble.  I assume this doesn't including projectile attacks, so any one have some examples of what it would include?  I was thinking perhaps emotional allomacy, but that seems kinda strange but I could see it working.

Thanks!

For Pewter, Chromium and Bendalloy, I would give the Allomancer 2 free Nudges on rolls benefitting from the metal. So yeah, when the extra dice are added to the roll.

For Copper, I would allow the 2 Nudges to reduce complications when resisting emotional Allomancy. I don't think there needs to be a stronger effect given that Copper Savants seem pretty low key.

Also there isn't a such thing as a chromium savant. It's one of the insta-burn metals.

true. I was thinking about cadmium

The two free nudges any time you benefited from the metal sound good, thanks

I think we can probably add a little definition about savant benefits for largely passive metals. We'll work something up.

another question.

for situations when my party gets free dice on their defense because of my bendalloy bubble, would they get the two free nudges when ever they go the dice or would it just be the savant that benefited?

If you're asking whether the two free Nudges described in the Bendalloy Savants section extend to other characters, no - they do not.

If there's room, try to include a joke about how ridiculous a Cadmium savant would be. And possibly a requirement for '60s hair like in one of those bad comedies where a family comes out of a bunker to find out that the Cold War is over.

I'll add a watermark, but it'll be temporally locked so you'll have to be a Cadmium Savant to see it. ;)
