Just how deep does the rabbit hole go?

1. Will the revised core 2.0 rulebook be in the new format I saw on these boards some months back?  It seems like there were 4 or 5 choices and the final choice was more of a black/white?  Something easier on the eyes than the green and black?

2. Will the rulebook PDF include a printer friendly version like Spellbound and Fragile Minds offered?

3. Will the factions books basically detail various nefarious organizations bent on world conquest through the use of whatever it takes plus the kitchen sink?  Will there be fully detailed base maps in any/all of these supplements?

Pretty deep Smiley.

1. The 2.0 SP .pdf is in color. The table layout uses the newer easy-on-the-eyes layout we've developed with feedback from these boards and use in our current .pdf releases. We were very pleased how well it works in greyscale - very effective use of contrast in those.

2. No. Print products released in .pdf form will not have a printer friendly version in the pdf. Honestly, printing that beast is impractical for most people (far, far more expensive than buying the book in a store in many cases) and the process of manuscript development goes through different stages that make extracting a print-friendly version a lot of work for us that also detracts (slightly) from the value of the printed books. They are however fully bookmarked and searchable, so extrating small segments for your own reference isn't hard.

3. Heh - the faction books reveal the inner working of the heroic groups of the setting - The World on Fire book preps the whole group with a solid base of world knowledge, real world espionage lore, and character options. It also develops the three main threats and provides the GC with tools to launch missions against the major bad guys. The .pdfs let players keep their secrets to themselves and only know as much about their allies as they want/need to. It's pretty slick actually. It's got a nice cold war vibe - the general knoweldge is in the core product so you cn get a feel or the organizations, before you commit to one. The extact contents are still in flux as Pat (and the rest of the gang) are over at my house this weekend brainstorming before settling in to make the magic happen.

1. Very Cool.

2. I have to admit that I would never attempt to print out the entire book.  By the time you did so (time involved, ink and paper) it would definately be better just to buy a copy of the hardcover.  BUT, it would be nice if there were some printer friendly versions of the tables from time to time.

3. Heroes are only villains that don't realize they are playing on the wrong team. Tongue

A slight correction...

The Second Printing PDF will be in color but it will not feature the new B&W tables. The tables will appear as they were in the original AEG printing of the book. To be clear, there are two versions of the book, as follows...

Print: B&W with easier-to-read tables

PDF: Color with original table layout

The decision was made a while back to go with B&W print versions and full-color PDFs, using the most elaborate versions of each. Unfortunately, there was a communication error in this case between those of us who laid the book out (Steve and I) and the others. Sorry for the confusion.

You crazy kids with your hip hop slang and abbreviated phrases!  The closest I could figure was "Quite Frankly True" with a whole series of "Q", "F" and "T" words falling into various combos.  None of which made much sense.  *shakes his walker*

Hey, who you callin' a kid, you young punk? Back in my day we didn't have any of these fancy dice and to hit tables! We used sticks and rocks and beat each other up with them! There were bleeding broken gamers as far as they eye could see, and we liked it that way!

You were LUCKY to get a box!

I first played with the Fantasy rules in the back of the Chainmail Pamplet.

Speaking of sticks and rocks, my buddy runs a miniture game at his cons called Sticks and Stones where you can't speak in any recognizable language, just grunts and gestures, and any resolution is done with Rock, Leaf, Spear! We always get a full table and draw a crowd... and I have a blast.

You were LUCKY to have a table.

When I first played, I had to pull the game from out of the garbage which consisted of an old, stained, and stale soft book.  My brother and I used to sit on the ground and DREAM of what it must be like to have some of these odd shaped dice they pictured in the book.  We had to use sticks to scratch out maps, notes and characters in the dirt and every time it rained was a TPW.

...damnit, couldn't help myself

P.S.  The garbage part is actually true.  My oldest brother, 10 years my senior, was cleaning up his room and was throwing his old D&D book away (he didn't have the dice anymore).  I remember being fascinated with the art consisting of dragons, warriors with swords, wizards casting spells and demons threatening the world.  I took it, read it, and have been hooked ever since, all while I was still in elementary school.

I remember using chits with numbers on them before I got actual dice.  Ah, fun times.

Now you guys have made me curious.  What year did you start gaming?  For me, it was 1987, 1st Ed. D&D.
