I've decided on the title for the game, it will be:    WOT: Homefront

Once I get more feed back on characters I'll post a game thread and opening.   The title does not mean that you cannot find yourselves is the middle of the Amazon or other places but everything will center around threats to the homefront.

Looks good generally speaking. 2.0's built in to run with a point buy system instead of rolling, but I doubt that'll be very important.
I'm looking at a Stranger sort of character, X-Files-esque repository of odd trivia and unusual knowledge.
I'm also a Deacon in the church of Superior Firepower: the Line Between Life and Death (amen) so sucking in a drekstrum won't be a character option for me. =]

Regarding Feat Purchase:

Are we allowed to purchase any feats during character creation?  If so, for how much?

I could allow that, BUT it will be at the stated price, and it also means that you will not be sixth level at the start. In my opinion the purchases is a good idea but not until higher levels where it does not effect character level so much.

I will have full details posted later today, but for now I've got a martial artist with a connection to law enforcement, taught subdual techniques, focused on unarmed and some melee; high strength and wisdom; Native American culture, likes hiking, hunting, nature, etc.

Wow, wow, wow! Hold your horses people.
Maybe we should make a player list first? To see who's in?
Because right now I see 2 liason characters (martial artist and a gun toting no-such-agency suit).
This means that if there are 4 more players they have to take military characters, and by looking at it now I see my character pretty high when it comes to being large and in charge (You can't beat an officer with an airborne tab and recondo patch)

Would US Diplomatic Security Service work for the spook?

I do not think that a DipSec agent would work for a liason. One might be encountered during play but not as an assigned asset.  there is no dignata,ry to protect though after we start there may be for a time, or at least recover (bwahaha).

Sure there is still room I am looking for between 4-6 characters.  So lets set a couple of rules for now. There will be one 'agent' of what ever agency. so if there are 4 players there will be one agent/operative and 3 operators, if 6 players there can be 1 or 2 agent/operatives, and 4 or 5 operators.  I'll go through the book soon and post the campaign qualities so you can start considering characters.
As far as general tone, think the Unit, Rainbow 6, the computer games Ghost recon, the (I'll use the term) Pulp novels Mack Bolan/Stoney Man, mixed with Ludlumesque twists in the process.

Aragathor has it correctly,  I think Valentina had claim to a liason type.  Aragathor is laying claim to a military officer, that means the rest are military types unless Valentina fails to follow through, and her idea sounded interesting.  We certainly need an NCO military type to make sure that the officer can figure out what to do Grin.
So nfactor, a martial artist is fine but he does need to be connected to the military if not have at least a level of a combat class of some type.

Oh! I have no interest in stepping on anyone else's toes -I typically play full-of-BAB-and-wrath types of one flavor or another and as such thought I'd try something different. =]

Ok, to clarify what character I'm playing:

1st Lt. Philip Barclay US Army (Paratrooper, Recon, Recondo school graduate, ambush and scouting expert)
Cunning Officer (United States Military Academy at West Point)
Pointman 4/Scout 2

MKelly can you post info on:
-Military allegiance (are we still on active duty [assigned spec ops duty, classified as Top Secret] or honorably discharged and working for "someone")
-Highest rank allowed in the team, who's leading, who has the right to take over and so on

PS: Can you make a separate thread for the characters?

Hey nfactor, you can play a Force Recon Marine NCO. They are quite up close and personal types.

it was my plan to do a martial artist brawler type, as well. i think though that i may just do a sniper instead. we have enough people that we can afford to specialise.

Hmmm....

Not sure how fitting to the game it would be, but here goes.

ONI Infowarrior and tech 'wienie'.  Lt Jg, Hacker class but (hopefully) built to not just be a target in the field.

It's either ONI or AFCYBER, either is doable, although I think I'd prefer ONI.  It it's too close to stepping on the spook's toes I'll go with AFCYBER.

In addition to being the class obvious hacker, I was planning on (and hopefully pulling off) making him a general tech expert, and maybe even a little mechanical talent.
