Krensky, a techie would be fine but there will be basically hot issues, kind of like "if you don't disarm that dirty bomb in 3 minutes we'll be glowing in the dark".  and perhaps bullets flying while you are trying to disarm the bomb.

Some demo, and lots of and lots of concentration and cool under fire stuff... check. Smiley  I'll get working on the stats and back story.

The first idea I had was a Pointman, army spec ops.  Part recon, part mission control, he was once referred to as GWACS and the name stuck, though it is often shortened to just 'G'.

Basically, he was trained to sneak into the target area and establish a position where he could oversee an operation.  He would then establish and maintain contact with the mission team for the duration of the operation and provide live intel on the enemy, including the location and status of any objectives at the target.

But I see we already have a pointman, so my second option is to create a retired Airborne Ranger that decided he wasn't raelly cut out for civilian life and re-enlisted after a couple years.  I don't have this character really statted out yet, but it is just another idea I had.

If anyone has any preferences, let me know.  I am leaning towards pointman currently only because I have him mostly made already, but if something else would work better I would be willing to try it.

Thanks,

Smiley  The first three characters look pretty good.  We need ranks for our marine and our other sneaky pete.  I'd say since most Spedial forces teams are almost exclusively nco's then make the Marine a Sergeant, (E-5 or E-6, Off the top of my head I cannot remember what the Marine rank is for E-6 what is an Staff Sergeant in the Army). And the other character appears to be Army so make him a SSG for now. I may adjust ranks prior to the start if necessary.

Standard gear will be BDU's in the new ACU pattern. Tactical body armor but I will have some mods for that probably tomorrow. and weapons of preference, ie sniper will get to choose his prefered rifle.
Standard weapons will be basically cutting edge, ie m-4, 416's, SCAR rifles, M-9 pistols, 1911's of various flavors, mark 23's, ect...
The game will be set around 2010. very near future.

One thing I noticed lets have a physical description of the characters as well, height, weight, hair color, style, personality, ethnic background. Reason for volunteering for such a dangerous duty in the military, ect..

I had figured on G's parents being figures in the world of big business.  Against their wishes, he joined the military as soon as he was old enough, largely as a rebellious act against his parents pressuring him to go to college.  When the World Trade Center was hit, his father was killed and he decided then and there that he would do WHATEVER it took to put a stop to that.  When presented with the oppurtunity to further the fight, he took it.

Anyways, that's the basis. I'll add it to the write-up when I have it all ready.

First, a link to a site with info on ranks:

Grunt's site

Minimum rank for Army Special Forces is E-4 and up.
A typical team is made of 2 CO's and 10 NCO's.

The funny thing with ranks and players is:
How old am I? How long am I a part of the service branch?

You go in and are a private, after a year a PFC. Then if all goes well you hit SPC or CPL after 2 years.
After a few years you hit sergeant, a few more until 10 and you get to be a Staff Sergeant.
When you see your 15th year "in" you reach SFC.

In comparision, a "fresh" 1st Lt. has about 2 years of experience inside the military.

The question here (since I don't have my U.S. Militaries book at hand) is:
-How seasoned are the characters?

Well, depending on how things shake out, I have two character ideas.  The first is Special Agent Lynne McKenzie, FBI Counter-Intelligence.

The second, Air Force Technical Sgt Terri Lindhome, Combat Control.

I haven't gotten them totally done yet, but I'll have them more or less done.

How experianced are the characters. to paraphrase the movie The Men in Black, "THE BEST OF THE BEST. SIR.  Basically the party are the best trained and equiped possible, in likelyhood they would all have at least two combat tours behind them before they were even considered and around 6-8 years in service at least. Now Officers are a different critter, but if they have any common sense at all they will listen to the team sergeant, warrants and various other experianced folks until they have their own experiance.   As far as selection it will have been pretty much SFOD-D's requirements except even more so.  For a good book on that organization try a book called Inside Delta Force by Eric Haney.
The problem will be is that the players will not have that level of training and knowledge that thier characters would have.  But we will have to adapt and overcome.  Cheesy

You don't want to say that to me, really.

right now prefered weapon i am trying to figure that one out, its mainly going to depend on the mission. side arm is going to be a 1911, but rifle i am having difficulty deciding mainly because the 2 i want are both caliber 4. but for personal use it is going to be a dragunov he bought while on a mission. he is former army delta, and they tend to use weapons they buy them selves instead of standard issue. i will say that the rifles i am looking at are all 7.62.

So, I've got my concept nailed down: Thug/Grunt.
Yeah. Subtle. xD

From some questionable intelligence agency, for questionable purposes.
Seems to me this group requires increased adeptness at gross violence, I aim to fill that role.

I actually see the opposite, but I'll get my Combat Controller character statted up the rest of the way. *shrug*

Well, I don't know about gross violence, but Canny Shot goes a long way towards making a 18 Int Hacker viable in a fight, especially with a forte in handguns and an accuratized, customized, laser sighted pistol.  (So he's into action shooting, everyone needs a hobby, and it's most of the reason he was the geek that was headhunted for this team.)
