Hey all. As I'm gearing up for my FC campaign, I'm thinking about putting together a GM's Screen. What tables and references would be of the most use for me?

So far I'm thinking:
- The Table of Ouch.
- NPC Traits Grade/Level chart

Which charts and tables do you find yourself referring to most frequently? What other information would be useful to have close at hand?

You might want to see this thread.

Also, one of the best screens linked from that thread.

Crafty's partners, 7eme Cercle (7th Circle), the official French language publishers of Fantasy Craft released a very pretty screen and adventure bundle recently. It has most of the tables you'd expect from a screen, including the NPC Traits table which is always useful. It is in French though...

I ended up printing off a lot of tables and taped them to a Forgotten Realms DM Screen. I don't have it handy but lets see if I remember what I put on it...

Damage Types
Mounted Rules
XP and Reputation Rewards
Dramatic Vs Standard Scenes rules
Sliding DC Chart
Skills and Skill uses (name and time they take)
Conditions (I think)

Basically, anything I knew I'd be looking up frequently or when their situation came up.

Version 3 of the link that paddy gave is what I use. So far it's had everything that I've had to look up since finding it.

What's the chance of getting a American release of that 7th Circle GM screen?

What's the chance of getting a American release of that 7th Circle GM screen?

Relying on traditional distribution, common knowledge of the U.S. market, and what little information we have about our fans and screens, pretty much none. Screens just don't sell well in the United States. In France they're pretty much a requirement - you don't release one and you might as well not bother with the game, at least as far as we understand the situation - but here their sales dropped off dramatically over a decade ago and never rebounded. This is why you saw most U.S. companies making them flimsier and flimsier, and putting less and less effort into them - because it was the only way to make them cost-effective. Eventually most screens went away entirely, leaving only the very biggest games with the largest followings able to justify the product.

We've worked the numbers a hundred different ways, and we're constantly on the lookout for ways to make it work, but so far no dice. Should an opportunity to release one arise that's workable, we'll definitely let you know.

DIY GM Screen?
PDF format of charts, quick reference rules, etc and art?
User prints it out and pastes it onto cardstock/foamcore product of choice?

I mean, at that point, might as well just use the fan-made stuff that's been posted.

I'm just sayin' if you wanna talk cost efficiency, might as well put a "some assembly required" on the product. Smiley

Here's what I use:

World's Greatest Screen, The - Vertical/Portrait
http://www.nobleknight.com/ViewProducts.asp_Q_ProductLineID_E_2137420721_A_ManufacturerID_E_1114259828_A_CategoryID_E_0_A_GenreID_E_119

4 Panels facing away from me, 4 Facing inward (GM side), with standard Vertical/Portrait alignment.
I made this pdf awhile back:
http://files.meetup.com/1337419/FC_GM%20Screen%20v1.pdf

In Player Panels 1 (Left) - 2-3 (Middle) - 4 (Right) I use:
1 - 1 page Combat Actions Summary Sheet (pdf 3)
2 &3 - A 2-page FantasyCraft "Basics" sheet
4 - 1 page Conditions Summary Sheet (pdf 4)

GM Panels
1 - Printed page 229 (Table 6.1)
2 - PDF page 1
3 - Pdf Page 2
4 - Printed page 369 (Table 7.20)

I suppose cleaning these up and releasing it as a nicer pdf (consistent font rather than cut and paste madness, etc) might be a decent idea?

For the sake of variety, I use this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Savage-Worlds-Customizable-Screen-S2P10002/dp/1930855591

It's 3-panel landscape. I find I like Landscape better, as it feels less like a wall. It's easier to talk over. I'd love Kruelos' stuff in landscape.  Smiley

The Savage Worlds screen is the easiest one to get a hold of, and I have one for Spycraft.  However, it's three panel, and 4 panel/landscape seems to be in vogue.  For me as a retailer, the availability of the Hammerdog landscape screen is spotty at best.  Honestly?  At this point, I'm wondering what size the panels are on the 7th Circle screen, and if it will work as a carrier for the Scriptorium PDFs, how expensive it would be get into The States.  I am horribly amused at the Warhammer Fantasy-esque art on the French FC stuff (I admit, it's the pauldrons.)

Also, what comes *with* this unprofitable French GM screen, and would it be of interest to people who can't read French (because like most lazy Americans, they let their high school french atrophy to non-existence.)

What French?  We only had Spanish and most of my class spoke it with a Southern accent so thick you cut it with a knife.
