Unofficial update.

The Mongoose site has had both books listed as "on sale now" for a couple of days. Further, they now have a news item saying that both books have shipped and we should see them at our FLGS in one to two weeks. (No date given by which to judge the two weeks.)

Still no announcement from the Crafty Three (+1).

Well, there's the announcement that implies it will be sometime between the 13th and the 24th, but not an exact date yet.

Got a phone call from the shopkeep at my FLGS. He had an email from Mongoose saying our books were on the way, and retailers should see them by the end of the week. (Since today is Saturday, I presume he means by the end of next week.  Tongue )

Does anyone know a good e-shop that allows paying with paypal and ships to Germany and is not too expensive?

I just recieved info that my favourite store here stops buying/ordering Mongoose printed books, and that includes WoF nad SC.

Chalk one to customer service (not). According to my (F)LGS they don't plan to carry Spycraft, but were falling over themselves to order it for me. Strange, really.

Not so strange. They probably figure it is a dead property and did not want to spend any money stocking it. But a paying customer who wants to buy something? Sure, I'll order it. After all, it won't have to sit on a shelf waiting for someone to buy it. Quick turnover means easy money.

Yeah, well, the dead property impression would indeed make it very understandable Smiley

Not only does Spycraft have to climb out of the "dead property" hole, but if you are the only guy asking for it, it's mostly likely not worth stocking.  I have regular customers that are huge fans of GURPS, Mutants & Masterminds, Ars Magica, whatever.  Some of them I even notify if something in the line is coming up for pre-order that they might be interested, and I'll have it for them on release.  It's when I double order and the extra goes to collect dust on the shelf that I catch hell for it.

Now, if that one special order turns into four or five guys asking for it, I'll give it a shot.  I have four or five, so I'm going to be stocking it (as soon as I can get me hands on it.)  I'm also going to be putting it on our shopping cart, hopefully at a price that makes the shipping worth it (FP is already a tank, and I can't see the book getting lighter.)

IMO, a sign of a truly bad LGS is one that refuses to take a special order with a reasonable assurance (like a deposit.)  There is absolutely no drawback to adding one item to the regular order, and Alliance + the local distributor means that in the states, you can usually have a turnaround of a week at most with no additional shipping cost.  I've heard stories of stores turning away money like this, and it boggles my mind that someone could stay in business with that mentality.

Well, I've frequented mine for 14 years now, so I guess they should indeed order stuff I'm interested in Wink
