FantasyCraft promotional materials?
« on: September 28, 2007, 01:14:28 PM »
Have you guys thought about promotional materials for FantasyCraft? Having something that would be good for demos or a small downloadable intro adventure would be great when FC comes out. Also making an 8 1/2 x 11 flier would also be cool, could print them out and leave at a game store to talk about the book.

Been thinking about this we have a bulletin board at our game store.

It's early now to have anything but as the release date approaches may be neat to do.

As a comics/games retailer I would like to see something like a pdf flyer, or shelf talkers I could download and print out to hang up around my store. A flyer for each of the different print books would be great.

Hey, I like the flyers idea.  The ideal flyer for me would have some generic Spycraft scenes (like a collage of things from the 2.0 book) with room for me to add my own text as well.  I would prefer color, as I don't mind printing a handful of color pages.  This would allow me to better advertise both spycraft and any spycraft games I am running at conventions.

Well could borrow art from the book for the fliers. There have been a few things I've purchased because the art shown really captured my attention.

Let me add that these kinds of things would be handy for each of the settings, be it SpyCraft, FantasyCraft or World on Fire.

Speaking for the Wyrmstone campaign, the current push is to produce a demo pack, which'll include 6 to 8 iconic 1st-level fantasy characters, and a scenario (or two) that is as complete as it needs to be for demo purposes.  A Fantasy-interested GC can download the pack and start running.

With luck, we'll have something ready in this respect by November, and ideally another demo scenario or two in January, looking toward our "live" prognostication of March '08.

These kinds of things have been on our minds since the outset but it's either not been the right time or we haven't had the layout manpower to do them before. With Steve on board, though, all that changes... :)

As a convention chairman (Winter War, February 8 - 10, Champaign, IL), I'm very interested in having demo games of Fantasy Craft available (especially if Wyrmstone is still going to allow LG conversions)...

Will demos (and people to run them) be ready by February?

We'll easily have at least two Wyrmstone demos ready by February.  People to run them, now that's something else altogether.

However, ultimately FantasyCraft uses the Spycraft system, so someone versed in it shouldn't have too much trouble shifting gears.

So I guess the question is, any Spycrafters near Champaign want to do demos in February?

And yes, we're still looking to do some sort of LG conversion.  That, of course, can't happen until the Fantasycraft rules are released and live, but it's still on the table.

What about equivalent levels for those who LSpy characters but want to create a FC and Wyrmstone character? ...

... While realizing it was never fantasy, the rings were expected to be an essential design of the LSpy system for additional characters. So a Primary Ring agent level could exist across multiple settings. The question becomes whether or not we would be able to extend this for FC & Wyrmstone?

As for promotional material - the black and white version of the FC cover was posted a while back. That could be a good starter for anyone wanting to make posters to promote the game in their local stores.

All you'd need to do is think up a catchy slogan to go with it.

Precisely. :)

Also, you might want to hold off a skitch on printing the cover mockup. We'll have an update in the not too distant future... And it will be mighty.

Is that the colour version, perchance?
