Henry Winkler has been made an Honourary Office of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of his work talking to kids about dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

Winkler also appeared on last weekend's episode of Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me where he was quizzed about Fonzi Ponzi schemes.

Wow, that's... unusual for a non-national. He must've seriously impressed somebody.

Shame he can't call himself Sir Henry. That would be most cool.

The article mentioned that he's toured the U.K. talking to kids about dyslexia, so I think that was a large part of it.

As for the name, I think 'The' would be much better. Worked for The Fonz Wink

With the OBE, he wouldn't be able to in any situation. Wink

You can be awarded the title with an OBE (as many have), but it's not an automatic benefit.

I was under the impression it was always tied to KCBE or other K-level title, so to speak, but I'm hardly an expert on these matters. Wink

Edit: I have since educated myself re: the knights bachelor.

It is always tied to titles with a K at the start, but it can be tied to others.

Don't try to understand the English peerage system. We don't understand it, and we use it...

I think the point is that it's not TIED to the other honours, it's an entirely separate award, which is why I got sorta confused back there. Smiley

Now, looks like he's doing a lot of valuable work, instead of directing vapid movies like some of his former co-stars. Smiley

It's probably too ambitious to say that Howard directs. It's more like assembly. Or ordering off a menu.

Lemme see, I'll take plot hook B, coupled with characters D, K, and W, and add complication G and twist R, with resolution F. Done!
