Yeh, I should have thought OSF tands to have a lot of dungeons. I'd still like to play the dragon drake and this being pbp it's not like I'll be sitting around a table bored watching. I'll post an alternate idea incase on reflection we decide the dragon will not work  Cry

Also OSF so ERA is Feudal?

foproy:
I reckon' he might just find a place for himself, yeah.

Catodon:
You could post an alternative, sure, but this first adventure should be mostly awkward places/situations, not impossible places/situations for a drake. And for the 2nd adventure and beyond... well, I might have a solution. Might. It kinda depends on how the first adventure plays out, so we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Nah, let's go with Reason. The more options, the merrier Smiley

I think I'll go with the drake and see how it works in a OSF type game as an experiment.

Joseph Usher
Human Wizard
Mage 1

A young human wizard. He was taught the rudiments of magic by his granmother; when she died, he had no other family to tie him down, so he went wandering. He's looking for a mentor, someone to help him tap (and control) his natural talent. He's perpetually cheerful, and more than a little naive, but his heart's in the right place, and he's probably a little too brave for his own good.

Alexander Gaelwyn
Unpredictable Human Bard
Burglar 2

"No constable, I'm sorry, I didn't see anything.  I was leaving a lady's apartment after ... ah ... well, I'm just glad I got out before her husband got home.  Can I buy you a pint at the pub over there?

No, well, I'll be sure to keep my eyes out for ... what did you say the thief looked like?

Yes, yes, an elf, now that I think about it, I'm sure I saw an elf walking a little too fast in that direction.  Sorry to keep you from your duties sir."

As the constable rounds the corner, Alexander stuffs the pointed ears in his pocket and twirls his newly acquired coin pouch around his finger.  "Nothing quite like free, I always say."

---~~---

Alexander is a slight human of approximately 5' 9" with light brown hair and deep blue eyes.  He considers himself a lady's man and enjoys performing including displays of acrobatics as well as singing.  His signature weapon is a rapier.  His clothing style tends toward flashy.  However, most outfits can be turned inside out for more discreet movement.

---~~---

Going for something of a cross between an old-school bard and a thief with an eye toward Swashbuckler should the campaign continue.

I would have loved to try a drake but since someone else already proposed the idea and the size is a rather large issue I think I will go with something smaller. I present two very different Saurians, I prefer the first but can go with whichever you find more interesting or the best fit.

Vashkar the Saurian
"Sitting on the ground with his back to you, his tattered, leathery wings partially unfurled and tail curled around him, he looked like a very small dragon, with deep reddish scales banded with orange. But then he rose to his feet and turned to face you, picking up a long hafted glaive from the ground and bringing it to the ready. More visible now, his build was more humanoid... he stood on two legs on the balls of black-taloned feet, long tail swaying languidly behind him. He wore armor... a heavy leather and metal belt and plated bracers, gauntlets and shin-guards supplemented his battle-inured scales and chest and belly scutes. Golden eyes peered down a pointed dragonlike snout at you, their catlike pupils narrowing slightly as he took in your measure. Briefly the spines running from the top of his horn-crowned head and down his neck prickled forward, pulling up his membranous crest... but then he relaxed a bit, not seeming to perceive you as a threat. He vented a slight snort in your direction, before he turned back to the fire and crouched back down, keeping his weapon within easy reach."

Vashkar knows little of his origin, other than having been raised as a fighter in the gladiatorial pits of a warlike human city-state. He was often pitted against condemned criminals and magically created, unnatural living weapons of war... the criminals were usually not much trouble, easily overpowered by strength and martial prowess. The weapons were another matter-- those he barely survived, through use of wits and tactics. It was a hard-won life that left him scarred and wary, and very resourceful.

Eventually, one of the magically altered beasts that was to be tested in the arena broke free, and Vashkar escaped in the ensuing chaos. Fleeing far from the state that enslaved him, he began roaming the countryside looking for others of his kind, enjoying his new found freedom.

Saurian (Draconian) Gladiator Soldier
So far unable to find a place in the world, Vashkar seeks to use his mind, strength and skills to make one. He often hires himself out as a mercenary... to any would be employers are not put off by his savage appearance. He resembles nothing so much as a small bipedal dragon... with heavy reddish scales, a webbed crest, and large horns jutting backward from his head. Batlike wings sprout from his shoulders, though these are not strong enough to carry him in flight (yet!). His golden, slit-pupiled eyes are unnerving... years of surviving by picking out weaknesses in his opponents and exploiting them have permanently left him with a habit of inscrutably watching and studying everyone around him.

Despite his outwardly aloof and alien demeanor, Vashkar can develop a strong sense of loyalty to others who treat him honorably and with respect. Due to his upbringing as a slave, he is predisposed against those who use their power to harm the innocent or take away their freedom.

The basic build is a general well rounded combatant. He will most likely use a spear or polearm to keep opponents at range, switching to natural weapons if something forces its way in close. If the starting level is 3 or higher, or levelling is an option during the game I may take him all the way from Draconic Heritage (lvl 1) to Legacy if you approve.

Edit: With age of reason I may take a powder weapon sidearm for ranged, if it's not too expensive. Wink I may also go Martial Artist build instead of Soldier, if you think it'd be more interesting to have him be a natural weapons fighter, but if the drake is staying in I feel he'll probably have that angle covered.

My second choice, if you prefer it, would be a Saurian Assassin... think Naga for a concept:

Ssryn Asavashra the Naga
"A large, dark, serpentine form slithers forth from the shadows, fixing you with glittering, lidless eyes. Lifting its foreward length from the ground, it rises to a height about a head above a man's, drawing a pair of knives from a vest wrapping its slender, vaguely humanoid torso. A hood spreads behind its snakelike head and its jaws part with a hiss, revealing fixed fangs dripping with venom.."

Ssryn was raised by a cult following an elder god, and used to slay the cult's enemies and spread fear. When not being used, she was kept in a sealed chamber like a caged animal and controlled with powerful magical wards.

The turn came when the cult decided to find more of her kind and similarly enslave them. They failed... instead, her people found them, and set Ssryn free. They slaughtered her captors and vanished once again into the jungle. She stayed with them for a time, but ultimately feeling alienated for not having grown up in their culture, she left to strike out on her own. She had seen the cult that once owned her summon unknowable horrors into the world. It seemed perfectly reasonable  to make sure that others who would summon such horrors met with a swift and merciless end. Her seeking to keep the gates to the planes of abominations sealed shut has taken her far and wide.

Saurian Acrobat Assassin
Ssryn actually relishes pitting her sharp mind and natural talents against formidable foes. Though she claims a higher goal, her real drive is the love of the hunt, the natural inclination of a predator. When not actively pursuing a target, she is more than happy to 'adventure' in search of more knowledge, weapons, and techniques which she may use to improve her ability to hunt. She will work for and with those able to approach her without fear.

Like Vashkar she can form friendships with those who treat her well... however she is used to either being feared or subjugated, and her initial attitude towards others is affected by that background.

This is more of a single-target specialized fighter build, which may balance out with Vandarzryx's build aimed toward multiple targets. To be done properly, two feats from the Adventure Companion, Dragon-Tailed and Toxin Sacs would need to be allowed.

I'll wait until I hear back before starting any serious building.

Gimme a bit? I'm a little fried today from yardwork and drinking at a metal show.
I've got a saurian martial artist concept I've been toying with, though I might looks around and see if any inspiration hits me.

battlefire swiftpaw
wild elf, barbarian scout
born on the plains, he spent most of his young life roaming with his tribe. one day, while he was away completing his coming of age trials his tribe was attacked and wiped out by a horde of orks, leaving him homeless and alone. while sitting near his last encampment he pondered his next move, finally deciding after several days to take to the road and seek out people to help him take his revenge. a millennium is a long time to plot after all.

Ah, no rush. Take your time cooking up a good concept.

Everyone else:
Good concepts so far. I'm off to bed, but I'll take a closer look at them tomorrow.

Okay, Here's two options:

1. Kythuss Firehand the Saurian
His people come from a land far away where Drakes, Saurians, and Dragons rule supreme, this mysterious traveler wanders the land. What does he seek? Why is he here? He claims its to slake his own curiosity. Indeed, he seems to do little more than observe events and watch, passively as people go about their lives. Understanding him is a chore as he doesn't follow a life style pattern similar to most others. He reveres the great dragons and practices a strange, self-reflecting philosophy. To hear him speak, you'd think he believe Drakes to be "ascended" members of his kind.

Draconic Heritage Saurian Fist Martial Artist
Kythuss practices an art that is unique to his people that harnesses their inner draconic power, allowing them to make great use of their natural prowess in combat.  This art is also why he is out and about in the world. He's not content to stay inside his temple-city and study. He wants to learn about the world and share his philosophies with the "ignorant" cultures. He never talks down, however, instead speaking like a wise teacher.

Build Outline
Starting with the Qi B/M/S line and probably another Edge Builder of some kind. Going to focus on feats that enhance his natural attacks, as well as picking up Draconic Heritage in the begining. If the game proceeds far enough, he'll be going into the Dragon Lord Master Class.

And now for something slightly more conventional:

[b2. ]Lauren IceForge the Dwarf[/b]
Lauren lived a life like any other dwarf: Training, working, digging, etc. She was a rising craftsman and her growing skill caught the eye of many other dwarves (professional and romantic admirers alike). However, life deep within the confines of a mountain and the rigid rules of Dwarven society can be... stifling, to say the least. Lauren left her people behind for a short excursion onto the surface. When she returned, the mountain had erupted, slaying her whole clan. She now travels the world, dispondant and alone, struggling to make ends meet. Sometimes she stays in an area long enough to ply her trade, sometimes she puts her manditory army training to use to defend a community.

Dwarf Artisan Soldier/Keeper
Lauren is a skilled crafter and well trained in combat, like any dwarf. She prefers reach weapons to keep her enemies at bay and so she can fight from the second rank. Her gear is superbly crafted and she can pass that dwarven craftsmanship on to others. Necessity has also had her become a skilled medic, as well.

Build and Role Ideas
Lauren is going to split levels between Soldier and Keeper and build a synergy between the two so she can create her own arms and make use of them. Solider was selected first so she can take on a support combat role. The Keeper's level 1 ability will let her cover mundane healing as well. So, she'll be all-around non-magical support... until she starts picking up the Charm/Essence Binding feats. *grin* Just want the ability to try out a crafter.

Hehe... Arawn's concept looks similar to mine... perhaps they're from the same tribe. If they are both accepted expect Vash to pester him for details about their people and culture.  Grin

If you have room I wouldn't mind throwing in

Shun'ka   Ogre Tribesman Scout

Hails from a tribe of proud plains warriors who have spent generations fighting against stereotypes forced on his race while cultivating a rich culture similar to native american indians.  I'm hoping the large size wont matter so much with drakes in the group but if you would like i could play him as an orc instead. Strong archer but good up close with tomahawk and knife as well. Full on feather headdress and doe skin chaps and loincloth.

LOL be nifty if i could add  on the draconian feat and make him a gargoyle. Cheesy

Reason, the era when a the damn monkeys get gunpowder, it makes them uppity. Grrrr.

Shouldn't be too much of a worry... the adventures seem to be written in as much of a generic fantasy vein as possible, which would mostly be Feudal. Only reason I went with Reason was to give the players more options.

---

I'm at work so I'll read the various concepts throughout the day, but just as a heads up, I'll try and pick characters so we've one specializing in brains, one who specializes in beauty, and two who specializes in brawn, so the group's got a solid base to tackle all kinds of challenges.
