You know the drill: use the Origin Creation Rules to create either a Talent, Racial Talent or Specialty in response to the previous poster's challenge.

Anyone can answer any challenge, but you must be the first person to answer the most recent challenge in order to make your own.

Please feel free to offer constructive commentary - that way we help each other learn.

So, first challenge: C.T.U (Talent) (as in the Counter Terrorist Unit from 24)

I always liked this thread Smiley.

Counter Terrorist Unit
Requirements: Allegiance (United States).

  • (.5) +1 to Constitution.
  • (1.5) Once per scene during an interrogation or manhunt dramatic conflict after strategies are revealed, you may change your strategy for that round to any other legal strategy. If two opposing characters use this ability during the same round, both abilities are expended without effect.
  • (1) Your Speed increases by 5 ft.
  • (4) Your threat range with Intimidation skill checks increases by 1. This bonus increases by an additional +1 at Career Levels 5, 10, 15, and 20.

This gives Jack and company a collection of benefits focused on rapid (threatening) intelligence gathering and actual physitcal speed.

Challenge: Ravenous (talent).

Ravenous: You hunger...

  • (1) +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma.
  • (1.5) You gain the natural attack (Caliber III bite) NPC quality.
  • (2) +1 insight bonus to Survival checks. This insight bonus increases by an additional +1 at Levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20.
  • (2) +1 insight bonuses to all Fortitude saves to resist starvation, thirst, and to avoid gaining the sickened condition. This bonus increases by an additional +1 at Levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20.
Obviously, this character is hungry. The +Con/-Cha represents a strong fortitude thanks to an ever-full stomach, but the disturbing habit of always eating. Biting was a natural addition. Survival is a shoe-in for what this character needs - to find and eat things. Finally, since this character can (and probably would) logically eat almost anything, he has a stomach of iron...and uses it "off screen" with a very conditional  but flavorful save bonus.

And yes, all I could think of was Ravenous when writing this Talent Smiley

Challenge: Chrononaut (I've done this one, but I want to see y'alls take on it Smiley)

Shouldn't CTU be a specialty?

I like the manhunt/interrogation thing. Though I'm not sure the likes of Chloe or Edgar Stiles deserve an intimidate bonus. Though I guess that's why department specialties aren't mandatory.

Speaking of challenges and Chloe, anyone want to take on Neurotic (talent)? Wink

CTU's strong as a Talent, if for no other reason that you can have CTU Operatives (Jack), CTU Suits (various station chiefs) and CTU Geeks (the hacker branch) all in the same room.

Ravenous: You hunger...

  • (3.5) Each time you gain 1 or more ranks in the Survival skill, you also gain an equal number of ranks in the Search skill.

Sorry Alex, that one is Specialty only. Fortunately you have points to spare Smiley.

My first time participating in this game.  Lately, I've been watching an Asian history show.  With that perspective in mind, this is my take on hermit.

Hermit:  You're disillusioned with society

  • (1) Bonus Feat:  Scholar
  • (2) You gain a +1 bonus with Knowledge checks.  This bonus increases by an additional +1 at Career Levels 4, 8, 12, 16, ans 20
  • (4) Your Wisdom is considered to be 1 higher when determining stress damage threshholds.  This bonus increases by an additional 1 at Career levels 6, 12, and 18
Challenge:  Since there is now racial talents, I would like to see Lizard man

Lizard-Man (quasi-human):  Hailing from the steaming jungles, you people come from a much, much older time.

  • (0.5) You gain the Aquatic NPC Quality
  • (1) You are always considered armed when making Intimidation checks.
  • (1) You gain DR 1/-.
  • (1) You gain the Natural Attack (Bite II). This attack posseses the injector quality.
  • (2) You gain a +1 bonus to checks to determine Surprise. This bonus increases by a further +1 at career level 4, 8, 12, 16 & 20.
  • (2) You produce 3 doses of poison (improved lethal poison or improved dementia poison) each scene. These doses cannot be saved or stockpiled from scene to scene, but may be used with your bite attack or be applied to items or weapons during the current scene. You again a +4 bonus on all saves to resist your own poison.
  • (-0.5) You gain the Achillies Heel (Cold) NPC Quality

Challenge:  This is one I've been wanting to do myself for some time now, but I'll throw it out there... Envoy (Speciality)

You can Copy-Paste them straight off the Wiki. That would be the easiest way Smiley

Question about the Lizard-Man. If he has a natural attack, isn't he already always considered armed for Intimidate?

Not necessarily. My poodle has a natural attack (bite), but she isn't going to intimidate anyone under the age of 2.

That is an... intriguing... observation. I'll have to mull on that a minute.
