Hi All,

I am in the process of trying to lay out the framework for a new campaign using Fantasy Craft.  I have all of the books, so I have all of the "mini" settings that are included in those.

Anyway, I want something more fleshed out.  I know that I could build all of this from scratch, but who has time for that (Ill give you a hint - not me)

So, does anyone know of any published settings that are generic or easily converted to Fantasy Craft.  I know that there is a deluge or d20 type stuff in existance, but I dont really know what is good.

Some elements I would like to setting to be able to handle:

1.  Most, if not all, of the character options / classes / races.  The real hard to fit parts are probably the non-standard races (like dragons) and the flintlock gunpowder stuff.

2.  A sadbox approach to the world.  I dont need an overarching campaign, and can shoe horn in any number of these once the world is set.

Im not sure what else really.  I guess it just needs to be really flexible and interesting.

Thanks in advance!

Eric

Planescape/Spelljammer comes to mind, then there is Eberron who's motto is if it exists in D&D it has a place in Eberron (IE something weird? Figure out where to put it...).

I know Brakk (SP?) Did a total conversion of Planescape called Planescraft http://www.planescraft.com/

As the331st said, Eberron is great for many of these things. Although non-standard, it would make sense to play a drake, or a giant, or a saurian - though probably not on the same team! There's a conversion guide here: http://www.crafty-games.com/forum/index.php?topic=3359.0

The Iron Kingdoms are great too, although you can forget about drakes and orcs. But otherwise, you have all other stuff, and it's a great place for a sandbox campaign. Another guide here: http://www.crafty-games.com/forum/index.php?topic=3578.0

There are many other great settings, but I believe these two (and Planescraft indeed!) fit more closely what you're looking for. If someone was interested in converting Dragonlance, that would be a good one too.   Wink

I've been using Freeport (which has a generic setting book) as the basis for my FC campaign. It uses most d&d-ish races. Most detail in the setting book is on Freeport itself,  but there is some info on the main continent.

One of my favorite is D&D's Forgotten Realms.  The 3rd edition is by far the best iteration in my opinion.  Since it is a 3.x product, you should have no problem converting the classes to FC.  Over the years, the setting has developed its own characteristics and flavor although it is still considered a kitchen sink fantasy setting.  Furthermore, the 3rd ed brings the setting close to the feel of the grey box ed (although the timeline has moved forward).  It gives GMs more of a broad stroke of the areas but peppers it with rumors that can help you start on planning a session or a campaign.

For a more sandbox feel, I think there is nothing better than the Hinterlands campaign world.  It has almost a PoLand like quality in that there are city states and large areas of wilderness and therefore unexplored areas around.
