The man who seems to be in charge gives a barely perceptible nod and the giant tosses his boulder at Rebeca.  She takes it full on and both her and Boxer go down.

The three humans move to their horses and mount them.

The orc begins a mad dash toward the caravan with his scythe held high.  He engages with Ryar'Bett and begins swinging the scythe as if reaping wheat.

Brindlglib gasps in shock. He is unaccustomed to such violence. Recovering he abandons his plan to watch and assess, the bandits are not in the mood to dally. He weaves through the ale barrels to the back of the wagon keeping low he drops down and scurries under the wagons trying to get under the baggage wagon undetected.

Ryar'Bett has seen fierce attacks before from creatures of all kinds, but rarely like this. The frenzied scythe blow glances off his armour but pain still pangs from underneath. He shifts his weight, and whips his tails around towards the his opponent trying to take him off his feet. As he spins, he centres his spear ready for the follow up attack.

Tavish finishes casting his spell and liquid silver slowly drips from the glaive's edge, disappearing on contact with the ground. A sense of calm comes over his face where rage at "Thomas'" comment was a moment ago. He straightens his back and remembers his duty and training. Sliding his right foot back he readies his glaive for battle.

[Catela] "Someone see to Rebecca!"

Seeing the bandits' unprovoked and cruel attack against Rebeca and the rest of the caravan quickly stirs James into action. Deciding to prevent the giant from throwing more rocks, he moves up towards him, studying his movements and subtly disrupting his attacks.

As Brindlglib makes his full-on run toward the back of the wagon train, he stumbles, is knocked sideways by a startled ox but somehow manages to land on his feet.  Unfortunately he finds that he has been knocked out from under the protection of the wagons and is now exposed.

Ryar'Bett spins on one foot with a grace that makes a lie of his slow morning movements.  His tail catches the orc off-guard.  The orc is nearly horizontal in the middle of the air for a moment before crashing to the ground.  Ryar'Bett's spear finds purchase in the orc's armor and bites deep.  The scythe falls to the ground as the orc begins screaming before it tails off.

Responding to Tavish's request to help Rebeca, Magdar jumps from the wagon and rushes to her and Boxer.  As he stands over them he holds a double-headed axe in both hands.

The giant seems truly confused by James' charge.  It would seem that he is unaccustomed to being directly challenged.  However, he seems willing to deal with this new problem.  He throws a kick toward James' left leg which connects and twists it.  He follows up with a punch toward James' head but only manages to knock James' cowl off.

Two of the remaining bandits on horseback rush toward the group.  They lean in the saddle trying to use their short swords to their best advantage.  One takes a swing at Tavish but misses on the uneven ground.  The other attacks Ryar'Bett and also misses.

The final bandit rides to and begins searching frantically through Rebeca's wagon.

The blow to his legs throws James off his rythm, making his disruption movements less than effective. James then decides to give the giant a taste of his own medicine with a couple of quick jabs to his elbows, the disruption of his joints leaving him unable to fully utilize his strength.

Picking himself up Brindlglib glances around and sees the last bandit climb onto Rebecca’s cart. His quick mind understands the implications instantly. [Catela] “The bandit on the cart, stop him!” he shouts. Then little gnome then runs directly for Rebbecca’s cart.

Tavish ducks underneath the short sword swings his glaive wide, striking the horses legs as it charges by, in a flash of silver light from the spell on the glaive. Completing the swing he raises up at attention again and locks eyes with Thomas.

Ryar'Bett pulls his last blow, as the vocal exclamation from the orc dies away. He knows that his opponent is out of the fight. Hearing the voice of the gnome from back near the wagon train, he has a few seconds glance at the carts and the human that now can been seen climbing on them. Damn thieves!

His sharp hearing alerts him to the danger from behind him, and his reflexes to the rest as a sharp blade comes into view. He rolls from the attack and instinctively puts some distance between the him and rider before turning to face him once more.

The giant's wicked smile dulled when he missed James' head.  Now it disappears as James begins targeted nerve strikes.  The giant's arms fall to his sides useless.  He slumps down to his knees.  [Catela] "Beaten?! By a puny human?  How ..."  He trails off in disbelief.

Brindlglib runs for the wagon and half climbs, half runs up the side of the wagon wheel landing on top of the stored items.  He pulls his sword as a glint of light catches the blade.  It flows up the blade and announces his presence to the would-be thief.

Tavish's blow seems to swing through empty space.  The horse appears unharmed and was definitely not tripped.  However, the boot on the ground with a human foot still in it tells a different story.  Tavish glances up to see the human rider fall from the saddle dripping blood while the horse continues galloping away.

Ryar'Bett rolls away before the horse and rider can do any damage.  He uses his tail to provide balance and a backstop for a good throw.  The spear sticks into the armor of the bandit but doesn't bring him down.  The bandit pulls the spear free before rounding the horse and coming in again.  This time he slides low in the saddle and swings for Ryar'Bett's back.  He scores a hit that leaves Ryar'Bett feeling less than nimble.

The human leader continues to rifle through the wagon's contents before snatching up a satchel.  He whirls his mount and begins galloping away yelling, [Catela] "I've got it, let's ride!"

Tavish allows a sliver of pride to run through him at the sight of the severed foot.  He quickly turns and moves toward Thomas, swinging his glaive in a wide arc, wanting to end Thomas with a single strike. His robe bellows out behind him as the glaive slices through the air with practiced precision.

[Catela] "You'll be leaving here with naught but your tail tucked between your legs, knave!!!"

Brindlglib sees he is too late. In split seconds he analyses the distances, the tactical situation, the clothing, posture, and accent of the bandit [Catela, subtle mimic of bandit’s accent] “Ha! That’s right run ya cow’rd slug, Grrrr!”. With that Brindlglib waves his flashing blade around in a deliberately inexpert manner. Hopefully, one of the warrior types will notice this out-of-character behaviour by the gnome.

James leaves the giant stunned on his knees and runs towards the bandits' leader. Unfortunately the blow to his legs is slowing him down enough that he'll just miss him before he rides off, but upon seeing the spectacle Brindlglib is making, he laughs mockingly towards the bandit [Catela]"Ha, the big strong bandit running away from a little gnome? Is that a whiff of soiled underpants I smell? Cowards, the lot of you!"
