The mounted brigand that struck Ryar'Bett turns for another pass and sees that his team is down and his leader is seemingly surrounded.  He lashes his horse as he turns away from the caravan and begins galloping away.  Ryar'Bett hears him says, [Catela] "This is too rich for my blood."

With the sting of Brindlglib's words ringing in his head the human bandit begins to pull up and turn.  Realizing that James - the man who took down his giant - as well as Tavish - the army magi - are closing in on him, he drops the satchel and his sword before putting his hands up.  [Catela] "I yield.  I yield!"

Magdar bellows from the former battlefield returned to road, [Catela] "She's alive!  Rebeca's alive!  I need help over here!"

Tavish walks up to Thomas and keeps him at glaive point till someone can come and tie a secure bond, while leaning down to collect the thug's intended swag. Without looking he hands Thomas off to more suitable hands and returns the satchel to Rebecca without looking at it.

James does as the little gnome says, while keeping half an eye on the giant in case he suddenly changes his mind and decides to do something.

Tavish walks back over to Thomas.

[Catela] "I have a few questions for you, kind sir, and It would go a long way to your physical health if you would be ever so kind as to cooperate." A cheshire grin spreading across his face.

Despite her obviously broken ribs, broken leg and possibly broken arm; despite not having his bag with him, Brindlglib is able to stabilize Rebeca.  Her dog mount - Boxer - appears to be in agony.  His right side and right legs are crushed.  He tries to lick her face but is too weak to move.  His whining seems to bring her around for a moment.  [Catela] "You crazy old dog.  Why did you do that?  Thank you old friend."  She drifts off again.

The bandit leader looks down at Tavish while two men from the caravan tie his hands.  [Catela] "You won't harm me, magi.  You are sworn to uphold the law.  I invoke my right to trial.  You can't kill me out of hand."  Somewhat surprisingly, he looks as calm as a Spring morning.

As the sun climbs higher in the sky, the feeling of unrest begins to lift from the group.  Men from the caravan move the others who were injured in the opening salvo of the ambush.  Seeing that Brindlglib and James are near Rebeca they bring the men there.  One turns to James and says, [Catela] "Will you help our friends, good brother?"

James is slowly getting used to being taken for a priest, but there's still a hint of bother, or perhaps embarrasment, in his reply. [Catela] "Ah, I don't preach, I only follow. But of course I will do what I can, though my skill as a healer is like nothing compared to the gnome's." He helps the men move the wounded to and fro, assists Brindlglib with any tasks he may require, and inbetween say a little prayer to the Sun God over each wounded, that he might watch over them and speed their recovery.

After nearly an hour and using most of his supplies, Brindlglib is able to patch up the wounded.  He has felt that some Other has been assisting him.  It is a bit of an unusual feeling.  James, for his part, has felt at peace and for a short while doesn't even mind being mistaken for a priest.

Rebeca has been stabilized and, though unconscious, has been loaded onto her own wagon.  The caravan has become subdued and nervous.  Magdar stands over Boxer - Rebeca's dog, mount and friend.  He sprinkles the body with earth and raises his head to the heavens before yelling out a wordless challenge.  Magdar then removes some of his special black barrels and loads the other two injured folk into his wagon.  He then assumes charge of the caravan.

He guides the caravan onward but the joviality that had been present in the days leading up to the attack is now gone.  Toward the end of what would have been an otherwise beautiful day, the caravan arrives at a natural apple orchard near a spring and a old stone bridge.  The apples are as sweet as promised and dinner is has a special flavor all it's own.  The next day brings the caravan to the mining town without incident.

Fulton's Find looks like a small hamlet from the outside.  Other than the anemic cross road, there are only a few buildings.  The low hills that form the roof of the mine can be seen between the trees down the left path .  A few family farms can be seen on the right path.  The paint is peeling from most buildings in several places; however, the colors are bright and show a certain determination and optimism.  The most well kept building in the area is obviously the Sun temple.  However, there is also a well worn path leading into the woods.

A gaggle of children near the temple run toward the caravan yelling.  The youngest, a girl of about four begins asking, [Catela] "Where's Boxer?  Where's 'beca?"  The acolyte who was minding the children steps toward James and says, [Catela] "Good day good bro... good sir."  One of the young boys looks at Tavish and asks, [Catela] "Are you a marine?"  Another pokes at Ryar'Bett's tail and says, [Catela] "You're a lizard!"  The acolyte begins making the children return to their lessons before speaking quietly with Magdar.  He then hurries off toward one of the buildings.

After Brindlglib has finished tending to the wounded, James walks over to the rough grave of Boxer. He bows his head and offers a prayer. [Catela] "Loyal hound, faithful protector, you served your master well. May your spirit rise to the heavens and sit by the right hand of the Sun, watching over your master from afar until you are one day reunited."

The rest of the journey he stays close to the prisoners, checking regularly that their bindings are secure and generally discouraging them from thoughts of escape. At the apple orchard he eats one, and picks two to place in his backpack, for later.

When the acolyte also mistakes him for a priest, James smiles good-naturedly, if a little embarrassed, at him and returns the greeting. [Catela] "Good day to you, good brother. Don't worry, it's a common mistake, I don't mind." He watches the children run around for a little while, and after the acolyte's had his little talk with Magdar, James moves over to the orc, to discuss what to do with the prisoners. [Catela] "Does this place have a sheriff, or perhaps a militia? Someone to hand the prisoners over to?"

Tavish stays within a close earshot of the prisoners all the way to Fulton's Find, trading off with James when hunger or fatigue suggests.

At the first available chance, Tavish goes to Rebeca's  side. After apologizing repeatedly for bothering her he asks her a question, [Catela]"Rebeca do you know why the bandits may have targeted that satchel in particular?"
