Please allow me to describe the scene OOC so we are all on the same page.  They are standing there with drawn weapons and demanding payment.  Based on posts thus far, I assume that everyone is in a wait and see mode.

I'll give it a day to see if anyone else posts.

The highwaymen rolled a 23 for initiative.

@ All

I have received a suggestion that I - as the GM - roll for your initiative.  I know that letting the GM roll for you doesn't sit well with everyone; therefore, I would like to put it up for consideration.

What say ye?

That would seem best as then we don't have any more "is this combat or not" confusion. As long as links are posted then i really can't see a problem.

Sorry that I couldn't post today.

Had to deal with family issues.  Nothing major or long term, just time consuming.

It would appear that the motion to have the GM roll initiative, and thus declare combat, passes with a vote of 3 to 0 with 2 abstaining.

Therefore, we have the following initiative line up:
Bandits - 23
Brindlglib - 18
Ryar'Bett - 16
James - 12
Tavish - 6

And here we go.

@ All

jameswllorimer sent me a PM stating he will be out of contact for approximately a week.  He would like Ryar'Bett to remain in the background for a bit.

Consequently, I decided to roll a stress test (in lieu of a Morale check) for the brigand that was attacking him.

Speaking of Morale, what are your opinions on using it.  I tend to not make my PC's use Morale but I'm open to it if you are.

That's something that should be decided at the start of a game or between adventures IMO, to let players put at least a couple ranks into Resolve if they feel like they need it (I know I would've).

Completely understandable.  I wouldn't implement on the fly.  I was just curious.  I'm happy using Stress to simulate flagging morale.  It seems to work well.

I personally dont mind morale checks, I think stress works just as good. I put a bunch of ranks in resolve because i figured Tavish has trained for just such occasions but I could go either way. I think i personally like stress a bit more mechanic wise.
