I was scanning through the forums and i was reading a threat debating armor and i saw some one mention that blunt resistance would be useful in a situation because most blunt weapons do subdue damage and would go through armor anyway! Iv looked through the entry on Damage Reduction and Subdue damage and didnt see anything about it. Can some one tell me if this i true where i can find what kind of damage types are effected buy armor/DR and which arent???

I feel generally in agreement with you.  What you get as an upgrade to DR isn't much for what you lose, especially as good plate should be just about bulletproof, and it does tend to make the more expensive armours very unappetising.

One specific critique of your analysis, however:

Quote
Considering that I'm attacked by :
- an edged weapon: I will avoid up to 8 damage spending only 325s, 7 in the other case!
- a blunt weapon  : I'll avoid only 5 damage (3 less), against a good 9 with the plate (that's right considering the cost!)

If you're attacked by anything else (projectiles, fire damage, acid damage, force damage etc.), the plate DR will be 2 higher (although it's much cheaper to stack resistances on the chain).  Blunt resistance is also a particularly handy trait, since a lot of blunt weapons deal subdual damage (which would normally ignore your armour completely).  However, as I say, I feel you may have something of a point.

Damage types are listed starting on page 209.  Stress, subdual, and special damage are not affected by DR.  Lethal is.  Anything that doesn't specify stress or subdual damage inflicts lethal.  The following inflict lethal unless applied to another damage type:

Acid, Divine, Electrical, Explosive, Fire, Force, Sonic

Heat and Cold inflict subual damage.  None of the damage types inflicts stress except Stress.

Bang and Flash inflict their own special damage.

Sneak attack is always the same damage as the attack it is applied to.

Hope that helps (and that I didn't make any big errors)

Was subdual damage errata'd?  The description of subdual damage in my book does not say it ignores DR.

Looking through the book, I agree that subdual does not ignore DR, seeing as several conditions specifically state that they ignore DR, leading me to conclude that those who do not specify that is affected by DR.

I could have sworn that it ignored DR but there's no notation.  THere is in heat and cold but not subdual.

Everyone make mistakes from time to time, the only thing that ignores DR are damage types / attacks that specifically state they do - subdual isn't one of them.

The Tire action specifically has a condition that ignore armor. But absent of some special rule, armor works fine against subdual.

This.

Bang, Cold, Divine, Electrical, Flash, Heat, Sonic and Stress all specifically state that they ignore DR.
All the others don't say this.

Cheers! Cheesy
