I'm preordering later this weekend!!!  I do have one question about the final product.  I noticed the Mistborn pre-order listed an epub version.  Will there be one for Spellbound?  Thanks

Depends. We're just getting into ePub and aren't sure if products with as many graphics and tables as Fantasy Craft will translate. Early research seems to indicate that they probably won't, but we'll keep you posted.

Such as? Only in generalities, of course.
Naturally.  I'm more interested in the flavor outcome than the crunch anyway.

Here are my questions:
* Do familiars end up different from Animal Companions and Personal Lieutenants?
* What sorts of stuff do Reapers end up being able to do with their class features?
* Are there any Species feats or feats related to being a magical being like a fairy or a dragon?
* Are there any feats like The Gift for granting higher-level spells?

Cool, I was just wondering. Considering how attached I am to my  NOOK reader and even the nook color doesn't have great pdf function or programming that I have found.  Still there is always my handy dandy canon printer or my wife's laptop to take my Fantasy craft stuff on the go Smiley

Here are my questions:
* Do familiars end up from Animal Companions and Personal Lieutenants?

They use the same mechanic of NPC made from X + 5 per feat XP, but X is lower. In compensation they grant a number of abilities not on the NPC list to the owner and his allies. The feat in the preview is Familiar Basics, so I'm assuming there are two more feats in the chain.

* What sorts of stuff do Reapers end up being able to do with their class features?

Stress damage. Lots and lots of stress damage and related stuff. Like the other specialist they begin with access to 1st level spells in their school and 0 level spells in all other schools. They can't learn spells from other schools out of the box, however. They eventually gain the Undead type. They have a lot of selectable abilities including a Minion, an undead Familiar, the ability to spend some extra spellpoints to Animate a special instead of a standard, and a number of others. The also gain a number of iconic abilities of powerful undead. It's pretty much the 'I want to be a Lich' class. This is more or less in line with the Channeler's schticks from the old SC2.0 classes. Except with death, not energy.

* Are there any Species feats or feats related to being a magical being like a fairy or a dragon?
* Are there any feats like The Gift for granting higher-level spells?

Their are two feats in the PDF. The first is the aforementioned Familiar Basics, the other is Spell Specialist, which lets you trade spells known for those in a school you have a lot of spells in.

Go to the Apps section and buy ezPDF. It handles the core book just fine, little slow on the covers, but handles the inside fine.

Seeing as how there sounds like not too much in the preview I might as well ask if you can do the same summary for the Conjurer you did for the Reaper (I assume the Hexer and the Arcane Savant are not base classes).

Ok, Pet peeve of mine because it happens a LOT on the net.

Your website says “Free shipping to most locations”
In answer to a question on the forum shipping is “$10 outside the U.S.”

If you say free shipping to most locations you should mean it. Most of the world's land area and most of the world's population centres are NOT in the USA.

I know you are not doing this on purpose but it can come across as misinformation/egotistical.

The Conjurer is described as a master of time, space, and matter. A lot of their abilities deal with items. One facet of their core ability is declaring an item in their possibly succeeds when making a Damage Save. Then gain the Favored Gear chain and some kickers as bonuses. Their selectables include the ability to change a 5-foot step into a 10ft teleport, bonuses to Earn Income, extra Prizes, hammer space, speeding up casting of spells in their school. They get a temp Gear feat, the aformentioned Portable Holding (think TARDIS), Lifestyle boosts for them and their team, etc. Their gamebreaker involves copying items. It's cooler then it sounds here.

Hexer is a expert class with Black Cat and a certain number of Charm or Affliction spells as prerequisites. It makes a lot of use of Chance feat and similar things to support the party and screw with the opposition. It's abilities mostly key off the Black Cat chain or Charm and Affliction spells.

The Arcane Savant is a Master Class specialist in a single Discipline and has the aformentioned Spell Specialist as a prerequisite. It's main power is to combine two spells from their Discipline on the fly into a single spell.

Oh, and it has a bunch of cool art, as we've come to expect from Ben.

Probably no epub version of spellbound, mainly based on the design of the book. Mistborn's layout has been created specifically with epub in mind, and will replicate well. The heavy graphics of Fantasy Craft's layout make that much more difficult.

I hear you on that one Cat, but on the other hand $10 is damn good value to mail something of the weight and volume of a book over seas.

My only complaint is that because I have a US$ balance, paypal won't let me pay in AU$ so for the first time I can actually benefit from the usually crippling exchange rate.

So I have to say the Reaper sounds nice.  Hexer is okay.  Everything else really isn't my thing, but that's not a knock against the product: I just like very specific kinds of magic and so far only the Reaper and Familiar chain have covered it.
