Hello,

I recently got the chance to try out Fantasy Craft at Gamex back in May.  I must say, I was very impressed.  It is by far the best D&D 3.5 iteration I have played yet.  It takes the crunch of D&D and combines it with the win of FATE.  I am especially a huge fan of how there do not seem to be any bad/trap character options and that Ye Olde Magic Shoppe is simply gone.

However, I also fell in love with the Iconic that I played, Salem Ironring.  Salem is extremely interesting to me, combining the ruggedness of a dwarf with the ingenuity and curiosity of, well, a non-dwarf.  I and my friend talked for over an hour with the GM about Fantasy Craft and game design.  He even gave us all of the Iconics character sheets he had (which were updated for the 2nd printing).  However, despite my interest in the game, I was somewhat saddened as I didn't think I'd be able to sell my friends on the game, given that I am a player.  Despite all of my friends trying to encourage me to become a GM, I am a player and probably always will be a player.  And, in my experience, the only good way to introduce a group to a new system is by GMing the game.

So, now, my friend, who had been GMing a AD&D 2nd edition game for several years (with an extremely fleshed out campaign world that is over 20 years old), has decided to change to Fantasy Craft.  Despite our best efforts at recruiting, we have not been able to pick up any new players.  So, he is planning on changing to Fantasy Craft.

Unfortunately, I have lost the Iconics I got from Gamex.  >_<  It is driving me crazy, because I want to know how Salem Ironring was built, so I can dissect him and customize him!

So, my question is, does anyone have any idea how I can get the Iconics?  My Googlefu has revealed that there used to be a book sold on DriveThruRPG.com with all of the iconics.  However, the First Printing Iconics were pulled when the Second Printing was released last year.  I've seen various threads over the last year stating that the updated Iconics are almost done, but they are apparently not out yet.  I'd gladly spend money to buy even the first edition Iconics, but they apparently cannot be bought at any price.  My Googlefu has failed me.  I REALLY want to see what made Salem tick.

So, does anyone have any idea of how I can acquire the Iconics, especially Salem Ironring?

Thanks!

I have all the first printing versions of them. You'll have to update them to 2nd printing yourself, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Here ya go.

Oh, and welcome to the forum, always lovely to see new faces Smiley.

I worked those characters up for publication the first time, Cinoros. I'm happy to discuss, either here or by PM.

A new version of the iconics is done and will be released pretty soon. It's in playtesting at the moment and should be finalized for Gen Con. It'll ultimately be released here and over at our DriveThru store (as a freebie).

Is there a drake this time round?

Same characters with modified builds and much, much fuller reference materials.

It's a matter of art assets - not having a drake class picture means we can't make a drake iconic.

We can maybe shake things up after Spellbound, though.

(How's that for a spoiler?) Wink
