Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything with a search. Wisdom is listed as a Favoured Attribute for Priests, but my friends and I can't see what makes it so important, since very few of their abilities or skills use it. Why is it so good for them? I get the feeling I'm missing something obvious.

Level 10 and 20 ability, first. Okay, they come up late, but a high Wisdom is a tremendous advantage then. And a Priest is first of all a flock leader. It requires a good Charisma to convince his audience and a good Wisdom to understand them. Priests are socialites.   Tongue

If you are making a holy warrior type, its probably not that compelling. And if you have lots of attack spells in your paths, charisma is going to be a go-to.

But lacking that, wisdom is a key stat for your main attack form: intimidate.

Indeed. A Priest with Glint of Madness is a Threaten machine. You needn't even draw a weapon--you're more dangerous presenting your Holy Symbol and pronouncing Dire Words of Doom for the enemies of your mojo.

Priest, Monk, Gallant and Martial Artist are four classes which I find work very well with each-other in that way. In both Expert classes you get some decent bonuses from having a high wisdom. Go Gallant if you want a weapon, Martial Artist if you want Unarmed, and in both cases Monk makes a good mix-in.

I'm thinking Priest 10 Martial Artist 2 Monk 8, or however you want to slide those levels around, would be a powerful, and versatile (four damage types: Force, Divine, Lethal and pummel's subdual) unarmed combatant.

My buddy played an Elf Priest/Monk, it was pretty amazing.  Huge Wisdom + Qi Chain + Monk meant that in the few fights that he didn't just glare the opponents into submission, he tore them an additional hole.  I think his Wisdom was something like 24 (effectively over 30 - Vow + Magic Item), and that was added to a lot.  Thankfully the combo isn't as potent as it was then thanks to Owl Nations well deserved nerfing, still epic though.
