So from what I can tell Mistborn is soon to enter post-production and yet Spellbound is still expected to be released before it? Sounds promising.

As I mention in the post, licensed products take a while in post-production. First and foremost, the license holder (in this case, Brandon and his peeps) have to review and approve everything, and we may still have to make revisions if they're not 100% happy. Also, Mistborn presents some interesting production hurdles that we're still working out with the printers (we'll talk more about that later).

Spellbound isn't done, but it's not far off either. We'll be posting more detailed reports from the trenches as we enter the final phases (which is when the work's most interesting to you - earlier stages involve lots and lots of (sometimes fruitless) brainstorming, (seemingly unnecessary) back and forth, and yes, false starts.

If I ask nicely can someone post a link to the high res pic?  I mean one not on facebook, which doesn't want to let a non-member see it.

That said the thumbnail looks cool, hopefully once it's out I can convince my group to reverse their anti-Crafty stance.

EDIT: Might wanna add the pic to the In Development page too (might be a good place to have the high-res shot onsite).

Like is an understatement.  The art is simple at first, but if you take a close look at everything, the detail is amazing.  (Love the Voodoo dolls.)  Now.. #publish!.. lol.

The cover for Mistborn is much better, I promise. I think with Spellbound I put a lot more attention into amusing details than I did into good lighting or paint technique.

There's a bunch of fun stuff in there, some of it is pretty subtle and I wonder if readers will make the connections, but it's hopefully the sort of illustration that inspires repeat examination.

Much better?  I'm not sure that's possible.. but I'll take your word for it.  I absolutely love the Spellbound cover.  I glanced at it.. saw a mage at a work table.  Said.. cool.  Looked closer, noticed the fire breathing dragon that was trying to set her work table on fire.. while the voodoo dolls toiled and labored.  Instantly, I chuckled.

I'll back Ben on this. I loves me the Spellbound cover (really, really), but that Mistborn cover is insanely awesome. Grin
