Excluding optional rules is fine.
FC does have some more narrativist stuff but these are largely optional and therefore you'll be exculding them, no probs. I was not saying make it more narrative but can see how it could be read that way.
I was aiming to avoid players making mistakes because of what they think they know and to point at what makes FC different. There is a lot of stuff in the category of what makes FC different so I picked on stuff that looked like it belonged on a general play sheet (isn't about character classes etc.).

Agree with this, but facing a real space limit (and a bit of a time crunch)

Would you be interested in writing a few lines of that sort of thing and sending it to me and I can edit it in?

Will do. Will get to it either this afternoon (Eastern Australian Time) or this weekend. Hope that's soon enough.

Hey, I really like this.

Maybe you could add in a little explanation on what 'Exploding' means?

Cheers! Cheesy

It means should wear safety goggles like in chemistry class to prevent plastic shards getting in thier eyes.

Looks like it will be the weekend. You could also look over my previous posts for a sentence here or there to use.

How about this? I've tried to keep the word count low:

Fantasy Craft is a D20 game with changes. Do not assume rules from other D20 games apply. The following differ from the D20 standard: lifestyle, reputation, size and strength, scaled weapons, non-magical healing, gear bonuses, class abilities and roles, magic, narrative control, and combat. These changes streamline play and increase flexibility. Changes to combat are discussed on page 203.

Also from previous posts:
An important correction
To Defence you need to change so size modifier is applied to characters as well. This is important for a game with goblin and giant PC's.

Other small suggested edits:

To Action Dice I’d add a sentence “Your referee may also allow you to use action die to shift the story just a little. The optional rules for narrative control begin on page 366 of Fantasy Craft”

In combat you note that “Characters may also take a variety of other actions using skills, class and feat abilities, and other character options.”
After that sentence perhaps add:
“Common combat actions, many not found in other d20 games, are found at the bottom of the Combat page of the character sheet.”

Ok, so got some time on this this morning, here's V2.0 http://tiny.cc/288vx -- I think a significant improvement.

Catodon, I ended up opening this, which I think borrows a lot of what you were trying to say combined with some more text direct from the book.

Fantasy Craft is powered by one of the most robust RPG
rule sets available, based on the oldest, most respected RPG
on the market. Though similar to other d20-style products,
it varies in many ways and as a general rule any
mechanics not expressly included have been removed on
purpose
. Some of the most common questions are about
attacks of opportunity, iterative attacks, and move/attack
actions, none of which are featured in Fantasy Craft.

Ok, though for Combat most changes are removals while in other areas most changes are additions or alterations. We see reoccuring questions/comments on the forum based on player assumptions (why do giant have no STR bonus, priests are not clerics, why do scaled up weapons have increased error, I can't just save my money to buy a +1 sword? etc). I just thought an intro sheet would be a chance to nip some of this in the bud.

On the other hand Combat is the crunchiest part of a typical play session and your sheet could be focused on that, (and I'm just being a pedant)   Evil

Nothing says another sheet can't be made that addresses the biggest stumbling blocks/questions that people familiar with regular D&D would ask. This sheet is more useful to play in general, for both people new to d20 systems in general and those already familiar.

Like a Fantasy Craft FAQ based on a comparison to d20 basic? Some of the questions are kind of expected since FC is made under the OGL.

I second this  Wink

Such a FAQ should of course begin with Q's, for which a whole host of people can chime in and craft A's. Four got asked right away (Catodon: why do giant have no STR bonus, priests are not clerics, why do scaled up weapons have increased error, I can't just save my money to buy a +1 sword?), and I imagine we can think of a number more with little effort.

Right, this isn't supposed to be a be-all and end-all .  I was aiming this at a front-and-back printout that might come with me to a convention. Nuances, optional rules, and character creation-related stuff aren't what I'm going for here.
