Here's a Quick Reference I've put together for New Players sitting down to play FantasyCraft for the first time (usually in my experience having read very little of the book).

Basically, I'm hoping to express in the front and back of a page (or maybe two pages printed onto one side of page) a quick summary of necessary mechanics, paired with a summary page of Combat Actions, a quick-start that can be included with a pregenerated demo character.

Any feedback / suggestions?

Did you set public permissions?

Should be "anyone with the link" -- maybe the short url a problem?

Try now?

Any modifications? Change in order? Things to delete/replace?

I kept a lot of original text, partially because I'm lazy, but mostly because the Crafty guys tend to write pretty tight, and it's nice to have that carry over in an Introductory reference.

Hey, I really like this.

Maybe you could add in a little explanation on what 'Exploding' means?

Cheers! Cheesy

Looks good. Though I would also add in the "untrained attack" modifiers for people using weapons without the proper proficiencies.

Maybe untrained skills too...?

LordKruelos, I don't suppose you'll see this in the next 15 minutes and already have a new version up with any changes you wanted to make? Grin I'm printing this out for game in another hour, I'll let you know what my players say.

Feedback useful. I may do some tweaking when i get home this evening but it being memorial day here in the states I may well be overoccupied with grilled meat and beer.

Commentary on the guide sheet.

Defence
Size modifier applies to characters as well, for medium characters this is zero.

I’ll leave this up to you but for new players highlighting FC’s differences will be useful. I Suggest the following:

I’d put ‘threats, errors and criticals’ right after ‘checks’

To Action Dice I’d add a sentence “Your referee may also allow you to use action die to shift the story just a little. The optional rules for narrative control begin on page 366 of Fantasy Craft”

You note: “actions. Characters may also take a variety of other actions using skills, class and feat abilities, and other character options.” Perhaps you should refer players “Common combat actions, many not found in other d20 games, are found at the bottom of the Combat page of the character sheet.”

Assisted healing
I’d add. In Fantasy Craft non-magical healing has a more important role than in most D20 fantasy games.

Since I'm limited to only 2 pages, I'm purposefully excluding optional rules

We're right up at the limit of text now, anything else that gets added means other stuff gets deleted.

Largely I'm trying to avoid editorializing, though I have been deleting lines here and there to make things fit

That's actually how I had it originally, but was trying to squeeze space -- it seems like you're saying "make it more narrative" -- is this right?

Excluding optional rules is fine.
FC does have some more narrativist stuff but these are largely optional and therefore you'll be exculding them, no probs. I was not saying make it more narrative but can see how it could be read that way.
I was aiming to avoid players making mistakes because of what they think they know and to point at what makes FC different. There is a lot of stuff in the category of what makes FC different so I picked on stuff that looked like it belonged on a general play sheet (isn't about character classes etc.).
