Hello, new guy here with a question.

I've just started reading Fantasy Craft and finished the spells section last night.  One thing that jumped out at me were the rules for Power Work Kill/Stun.  It mentioned that effect happened to both you, and the character you chose.  I take it that it means just what it says on the box, that if you cast either spell, you are also going to be affected in the same way as the character you cast it upon.  Is it because those spells are "last ditch" efforts where you are sacrificing yourself to pull it off?

Thanks.

That's right. Be prepared to eat the same effect. Makes things more fun that way.

Of course, how well either of you can survive this rather varies...
Lethal damage is resistable after all, and undead are immune to stun, but they could still use that power word...

also notice that the Power Words are just that, words, powerful spells on a single simple action.

not that I completely understand a Prep cost of 10 on Power Word: Kill.........

Obviously its due to that diamond you had a rich noble cut with his inept virgin-blooded hands to use as an easily crushable (thanks to that enchantment this other guy you pulled strings with put on it) focus as you yell out the word.

Powerword: Kill causes the most confusion of the bunch, but here goes: figure out exactly how much damage is needed to kill the other guy. Kill him. Now you take THAT much damage - not necessarily the amount needed to kill you!

If it takes 77 damage to drop the target and you have 77 vitality yourself, you can blow him up and not take a scratch in the process...
